Album info

I was commissioned to build the FAA Corsair IV as flown by Sub. Lieut. Deryck John Scarrott on 18 February 1945, off escort carrier HMS Arbiter. He was launched by the catapult seconds after another Corsair, right behind, chewed up his starboard elevator. Noone noticed in time to abort the catapult launch, and he nose-dived 150 feet in front of the carrier and died instantly. His family commissioned this emotional tribute to a lost brother.
