Airfix Me 262s

The 2017 kit has far more parts than the 1960. 

The 1960 instructions have four steps on a single page. The 2017 has 38 separate steps. 

I started by undercoating everything black. 

Next step was painting on the sprue everything I could. 

 

 

The difference in the cockpits between 1960 and 2017 is stunning. 

Black X gets gray putty seam undercoating before first color 

White 3 gets a base coat of RLM83; Black X gets a thinned coat of RLM82.of RLM82; Wh 

Both aircraft get second color of RLM81; Black X finish is deliberately thin and uneven; ten nose and tail markings added 

Decaling complete. 

 

The underside shows RLM76 painted finish on White 3 versus mostly bare aluminum with puttied seams on Black X.
