The Northrop Gamma 2A “Sky Chief” was a high-speed long-range plane that Commander Frank Hawks flew from Los Angeles to New York in a record 13 hours, 26 minutes, and 15 seconds on June 2, 1933. To be noted the so called “park bench” ailerons, a design solution allowing for longer flaps hence lower landing speed. The 30’s of last century were the golden age of aircraft design development!
My Northop Gamma “Sky Chief” is a 1/72 model kit by Williams Bros. , 1973 release, brush painted with enamel paints.
