It went together like a dream. Filler only required on the upper wing joints and air intake. I see some folk buy the add-on resin air intake to avoid having a seam/glue line.

Whilst this build is on hold, I go back to it whenever I'm waiting for something else, like paint to dry. So, the underside is fully painted & masked off ready for the upper fuselage & wings to be painted.

Thanks! Got the prop & wheels painted today. I plan to paint the upper half on Thursday.

A coat of the light grey, before the grey/green goes over the top in camo pattern & mottling.

This will have to wait until after the weekend as I have discovered I don't have the correct paint! DOH!
30 May 2016, 23:19

I sat with the instructions and cross referenced the Revell paints to RLM colors and then sat with the list and ordered them, I have all MM paints for both 109's and the 190, and life color RAF Battle of Britian paint sets for the Spit's and Hurricanes. I have used Tamiya paints for the first time on my Japanese aircraft, and I like them a lot.

And I do the same, I was 100% sure I had them all!!! I am old school, still using Humbrol enamels! 🙂
31 May 2016, 23:49

I have Humbrol enamels also, as a matter of fact, I specifacely bought Humbrol for my BAC Lighting.
1 June 2016, 00:02

Me too, lot's of Humbrol enamels to end up. But I've also Tamiya's.
In the beginning (without airbrush) I didn't like the Tamiya's because they were not matt enough for me, but with airbrushing I start to like them a lot, so I use both.

I have a Zero 1:32 kit that I have bought all the Tamiya Acrylics for, so when I get round to it, it will be my first venture in to acrylics! Then I will deicide wether to stay with enamels or convert to acrylics.

I think you mean cheaper 🙂 Tamiya should be thinned with Mr.Colour or Tamiya's own thinner, it is not water based!
1 June 2016, 22:27

It works with me, to clean I use alcohol. You should try😉 and yes much cheaper. My second name 😄 and needless to say less odor 👍
1 June 2016, 22:39

Nice progress...waiting for those paints 👍 ...been there, done that 😉
2 June 2016, 12:20

OK, I have the correct colour & it went on nice. But, as you can see, I do not recommend leaving White-Tack on for very long! So I have some cleaning up to do before I can go ahead with the mottling.

It is looking good. I use alcohol to thin my Tamiya paints. Works great. I prefer Acrylic's to enamels, now that I have figured out how to use them. Also thin my MM acrylics with a alcohol water combaniation, 70% alcohol and 30% water.

Paint job has been touched-up & mottling done. Drying time now & then decaling.
3 July 2016, 13:31

Looking forward to that Cliff, I'm sat here applying a clear coat in readiness for a wash & decalling.

I bet she will be a stunner, when you are done. I went to our Air Force Musuem this past weekend. They had a ME-109G-10 on display with all the cowlings open. I took plenty of pictures. Makes me want to get a 1/32 one with an engine.
11 July 2016, 18:32

Today I finished my Defiant (Take a look & give me your thoughts) so I should be able to crack on with this at the weekend.
11 July 2016, 22:33

Well, errr, I never did crack on with this kit. In fact it just sat on my shelf of doom for FAR to long. I seem to have developed a nasty habit of starting, and not finishing kits. I am now having a purge of my shelf of doom. So, after over a year, it's final reveal time...

TKS Cliff your to kind, although it;s not to bad for the 3rd kit I ever built.
