After just a day on the bench, she is basically built! It seems this AFV stuff is all about the painting & weathering?!?!

Painting is where all the fun is! I think I spend at least five times as much time on painting as I do on assembly.

Well, you built a Tamiya kit^^ Try one from Bronco, and then we talk again😉

lol HK 🙂 I have the Bronco A13 Mk.II Cruiser Tank on my wish list, any thoughts? @EnsignExpendabl Detail painting isn't my strong point so I should enjoy learning, any tips?

Nice going Dave. I've only done two armor models and I believe they are easier than aircraft is some ways. No damned canopies to mask comes to mind first! 🙂 This Tamiya Panther is one of my two. Here's a look at mine:

Truly excellent work Gary 🙂 If mine turns out half as good I will be a happy bunny! This AM I have received some RLM colours from MRP so I can crack on! Oh, I also need to drink a few cans of beer this weekend so I can use them to make some side-skirts. The hardships we have to go through for our hobby! 🙂 🙂

@HK I built a Bronco Valentine, I think every instruction step uses more parts than an early Tamiya kit!
@Dave Morris I like painting interiors, so that's where a lot of time goes into. Plus I play around with grime/streaking a lot and most of it just gets washed off since I didn't like how it looks. I don't think my details are painted better than anyone else!

@Ensign: And after all this parts it looks half as good as the Tamiya one😉

Painted with RAL7028 dark yellow! Now I have to tackle the camo scheme, mask or free-hand that is the question?

Free hand camo paint job applied and the detail painting is done. It can dry over-night & then it's weathering time 🙂

Thanks Spanjaard. I don't have the skills for all that heavy weathering. But she hasn't turned out bad with just some subtle weathering.
Album info
The Panther was a German medium tank deployed during World War II on the Eastern and Western Fronts in Europe from mid-1943 to its end in 1945. It had the ordnance inventory designation of Sd.Kfz. 171. Until 27 February 1944, it was designated as the Panzerkampfwagen V Panther when Hitler ordered that the Roman numeral "V" be deleted. Contemporary English language reports sometimes refer to it as the Mark V.
The Panther was intended to counter the Soviet T-34 and to replace the Panzer III and Panzer IV. Nevertheless, it served alongside the latter and the heavier Tiger I until the end of the war. It is considered one of the best tanks of World War II for its excellent fire-power and protection. Its reliability was less impressive.
The Panther was a compromise. While having essentially the same engine as the Tiger I, it had more efficient frontal hull armour, better gun penetration, was lighter and faster, and could traverse rough terrain better than the Tiger I. The trade-off was weaker side armour, which m
