That looks like a fascinating kit Bart. I had a look at a build review, and it looks amazingly complex. Good luck with your build, I'll be watching with interest.

Have been playing around with those little Metal Earth kits, but this looks a load of levels above!

making a bit of a study, seems like a lot of soldering/glueing and looking out for parts... hope it will turn out good...
23 February 2017, 10:45

This looks like a real challence! Wish you lots of luck with this kit.

This is just the madness 👍 👍 👍
A problem is taken from you,
NAVY colors will not be a reason for discusion at the F6F 😄 😄 😄
23 February 2017, 12:35

darn, I tended to use the right interior colors etc....
23 February 2017, 13:14

Ohhh, then it becomes a real task, so naked you rarely see an original 🙂
23 February 2017, 14:45

OMG, this will be a stunner.... and huge pile of work! i am certainly in.

That's a very ambitious project Bart! It should look marvelous when done.

Nice project! One question: Are the PE brass, Ni or steel? I ask, because until now I have all my stripdowns (see projects) soldered. But the Eduard stripdowns are made from brass and this here looks different.
1 March 2017, 17:47

I think it's stainless steel, very solid, but a pain to solder...

Count me in! 👍
Very curious about the build of a Jasmine strip down kit
1 March 2017, 18:03

i have seen in other forum that somebody assured it was stainless steel. there was a picture were it was completely scratched to show that it is not brass underneath. i remember also something about not being magnetic (to show that it was stainless steel, if i remember properly). sorry i do not have the link to that forum, sorry. i found it by accident.

Just did a quick test, and the material is magnetic. maybe just a very thick layer of Nikkel on top of it, or some low grade stainless steel (No 18/10, but a lower combination, it qualifies as "chinese" stainless steel, but it is magnetic, and not so corrosion resistant)

Absolutely a lovely build, Bart. Do you solder everything or do you glue small parts, too?
2 March 2017, 13:36

I intend to try to solder as much as possible... like the tip of the wing consists of 4 pieces soldered together just to obtain some form of rigidness... everything is positioned with small teeth, but these only serve as a positioning guide...
2 March 2017, 13:46

Or the writer was wrong. Some say this kit has white metal parts too
2 March 2017, 18:38

Bart, aren't the parts you speak of actually resin, impregnated with metallic "powder", instead of white metal?
2 March 2017, 19:21

Yes they are Gary, but some reviewers said that it were white metal parts... I want to say that not everything that you read is correct
2 March 2017, 20:19

"... I want to say that not everything that you read is correct".
Well said Bart, and quite true. 🙂

I have never seen a strip down kit in quarter scale so far. That looks very promising Bart. I'll take a seat and follow this!

Not given up, but it went a bit to the background... For the moment a serious lack of time to build and I still have to move everything around every evening, which isn't helpfull...
10 January 2022, 07:48

Of course I am watching! 😉 I purchased this kit some time ago, but I am not sure if I will ever have enough skill to tackle it...
10 January 2022, 08:55

Thanks for offer, bughunter, very appreciated ...but I love assembling kits much more than keeping the finished ones 😉
