Sea Harrier base

After a failed first attempt, I made a template according to the measurements from the InfiniModel instructions for the tiedowns. 

Automotive primer works fine on the depafit base. 

My first attempt at a base, the tiedowns were too closely spaced, so the 42 included in the package would not suffice. 

I sprayed a lighter primer in the approximate locations for the line bordering the runway and the big letter H denoting it is HMS Hermes. 

Masking the light areas. 

These four acrylic shades were used on the base. 

Shade #1, Panzer Ochre 

#2, Medium Sea Grey. 

#3, Grey Primer 

#4, Grey Green 

De-masked. 

Playing around with stuff to put on the base. 

The base in proper lighting. I do like the restrained look of the tiedowns. They are there, but they are as little visible as in images of the real thing. 

Working on the figures. The pilot is almost done. 

The aircraft handler needs some touchups around the goggles/glasses/whatnots. Done after taking the pic. 

I had to resort to the cruder styrene boarding ladder from the tractor set as the nice PE item was too short to be of use to a scale pilot.
