My new project. Will be the machine piloted by Jan Linzel, a Dutchman who escaped the German occupation in Holland. Died in 2019 in Ireland at the age of 105. Hero 🙂

Look forward to seeing your build! I'm reading the book at this time, which is a very interesting story.
30 December 2020, 20:41

Welcome Rik! Interesting story indeed. Great man, one from the "Greatest generation".

Some preparation work on the Tempest. Started the pit, off course, but waiting for a resin seat to arrive out of the UK but the post does take ages now with all that Covid and Brexit troubles.. Luckily the PE flaps arrived out of France in 3 days so I can start with adding the flaps to the wings. Wish me luck
19 January 2021, 15:24

Looking with interest, also Jan Linzel is really interesting person.
19 January 2021, 15:26

Finally the resin bits arrived. Used a resin seat for the pit and a resin radiation including a dust filter as were used in the mainland of Europe on improvised airfields. Sprayed the cockpit parts etc in aircraft grey-green.

Welcome Nathan 🙂
Finished the cockpit last night, and it's quite a nice cockpit straight out of the box. I only used a resin seat from Barracuda. Unfortunately not much is visible when closing the fuselage though 🤔 Luckily I didn't invest in a expensive resin cockpit!
3 February 2021, 07:04

That cockpit looks splendid, I am happy to have seen it before it goes in! 🙂 👍
3 February 2021, 08:23

Excellent! There's something about a cockpit, I could just have a collection of them & not the plane & id still be happy 👍
3 February 2021, 10:18

Thanks for the nice words David, Slavo, Jos, Björn and Munkyslut! This is a very nice kit mates.
3 February 2021, 12:26

I'm glad we have seen your beautiful cockpit before it gets all sealed in.
3 February 2021, 15:33

Looking fantastic Erik. Nice job on the wheel wells and the cockpit looks amazing👍
3 February 2021, 16:07

Thanks Nathan and James!!
Time to close the fuselage now, bye bye cockpit 😄
3 February 2021, 20:44

Ah another masterpiece by Erik.. Fantastic progres and beautiful pit mate 👍
3 February 2021, 20:50

Thanks Neil! After the wings are mated with the fuselage the hard part starts.. adding the PE flaps.. a first timer for me so finger crossed 🙂
5 February 2021, 07:58

Don't worry Erik. As I can see your current work perfect result is for sure. It is not so complicated as it seems. But I do understand your feelings. first time is first time 😉.
5 February 2021, 08:24

Well David, they are almost done now! Not an easy job but worth the effort. Even without paint they look nice already.
16 February 2021, 21:34

Unbelievable nice result for the first try. Now I'm fighting with dive brakes for the Dauntless 🙁.
17 February 2021, 08:14

Thanks Joonlae and David! Luckily Eduard is a master in engineering PE flaps so the fuss is kept at its absolute minimum I guess.
17 February 2021, 10:09

Thanks Vincent and Slavo!! Tonight I can finally go trough with them after a couple busy days
19 February 2021, 16:06

Thanks Roland and Jos! Sprayed the underside in Mr.Color 363 now.
4 March 2021, 21:22

Thanks Nathan! On the photo the shading looks more dramatic than it really is I must say 🙂
5 March 2021, 07:15

Basic paint job done. Highlighted some panellines with darker grey en darker green. Maybe to much but a wash etc will tone that down.
10 March 2021, 06:14

The Eduard decals are very nice!! They settle in nicely with some Set and Sol. The squadron codes however, from Dutch Decal, are a bit tougher. Also the dimensions of the letters are a bit to big and narrow. By removing 1mm they look much better.
16 March 2021, 18:56

Nice catch on the decals Erik. They look like the picture of the real one now.
16 March 2021, 20:40

Great work Erik, extraordinary sharp colors mate...already a little gem!
19 March 2021, 11:03

Thanks mates!! Weathered it a bit with some plw's. Also, added Barracuda exhausts.
25 March 2021, 21:27

Getting better all the time. I like those tiny marks you added to the screws. Were they paint or decals?
25 March 2021, 21:42

Decals Nathan, and there are a LOT! But I will be honest with you; I didn't placed them all..
25 March 2021, 21:49

Arrived late, but will certainly enjoy the end of this great build 🙂 it looks really great Erik.
25 March 2021, 22:05

Those marks around the screws look excellent, I find red and yellow decals often over-contrasted but these are just perfect, and totally in harmony with the nice mild panel & rivet highlighting 👍 - well invested efforts, not the first or the last (I guess 🙂 ) on this quite extraordinary build.
27 March 2021, 08:12

Thank mates! Nice to see gifted modellers liking my build! Yes Slavo those red stripes around the fasteners look good, and I didn't even placed them all.. I'm guessing some came of during war time use😉
27 March 2021, 20:55

Gosh! This is another fantastic looking build in the feed... Highly impressive work ?
27 March 2021, 21:30

Well, I think she's done now. Hope you like it. As always it's not really what I had in mind. But hey, another model is done so new experience is gained!
9 April 2021, 19:46

I agree. Absolutely stunning work Erik. If I build this kit, I'll just come back to your album for reference🙂
9 April 2021, 20:16

Thanks mates!! Makes me humble!!
@Jan, thanks! Vlotmans Mosquito is next!
9 April 2021, 20:53

You did a great job Erik. This is a well built, painted and weathered Tempest.
9 April 2021, 21:51

That's a stunning finish Erik... I'd be chuffed if I could pull off something even a quarter as good as this. 👍
9 April 2021, 22:47

Tempest and Typhoon are among my favorites in the air 🙂 and your model is then my absolute favorite for a model of the year 👍 👍 👍 impressively beautiful details perfectly implemented, congratulations, a model of the absolute top league (Y ) 👍 👍
10 April 2021, 07:00

Hello
What an amaizing build
Where the seat is found ?
Congratulation
10 April 2021, 19:58

Great to see this completed Erik. It's lovely and a spectacularly fine piece of work. Quite apart from the fine detailing, I like the RAF Dark Green and Ocean Grey colours you have used. Which paints were they? I'm hoping you say Gunze because that's what's waiting to go on my 1/72 Typhoon but I've not done this scheme before...
12 April 2021, 20:38

Thanks for your nice words Neil! Well yes, I've used Gunze colours. But the lacquer ones, Mr.Color. Normally I use the aqueous types but Ocean grey isn't available in Gunze aqueous!
12 April 2021, 21:14

Thank you Erik. Bingo! Yes that's the same as I have. Now I'll use with confidence that the colours will turn out to my liking. Any old green and grey just won't do!
13 April 2021, 10:43

Outstanding Erik. Great to see this one turn out so great. Pity that beautiful interior is mostly in the dark!
13 April 2021, 11:18

Good news Neil!! I must admit this was my fist model sprayed with Mr.Color and I like it just as much as the aqueous range! And it smells better too 😄!!
Thanks Rik!!
13 April 2021, 18:19

What an expertly done paintjob and build, the subtle weathering looks very realistic 👍
16 April 2021, 13:16

Turned out really superb - very nice build to follow & top result - realism at it´s best 👍
20 April 2021, 08:39

Amaizing, thanks a lot for flap photo, I decide to do it !
18 January 2022, 08:58

If I ever build a Tempest, I want it to look like yours. Awesome.
