Some details in the radio compartment have been added. Though these will be most likely disappear once the hull is closed, it´s good to they are in place 😄

The interior was assembled and painted. The Revell kit is unfortunately no big fun. The fitting of certain parts is rather poor, the instruction manual is not very precise which causes a lot best guesses of certain assembly stages. The biggest downside is the amount flash, some kit parts are smaller than the flash around - lots of cleaning is required 🙁

Looks awesome already. I will watch this talent-show with pleasure 🙂

I have practically the same project queued up. Following with interest. Sorry to hear about parts fit and part cleanup.

Thanks for your encouraging and motivating comments, mates! That really pushes me to continue that project.
The kit is just a mess in terms of fitting. Don´t know whether it´s a messy production line at all or just my particular kit. The tail- MG is a separate section which is attached to the main fuselage after assembly. No matter how you turn it, the horizontal panel lines of the MG section won´t go along the panel lines of the fuselage. Sanding and carving here and lotsn lotsn lotsn lots of sanding at the main wings. Though there are some very few connector pins, they do not fit exactly. So every panel line going from the top to the bottom of the wing, had to be recarved.
One really fun part was the landing gear, which received some details from scratch.

@A.J. Checking your kit wisely before starting the project is highly recommended 😄

The lady received some paint.
The USAF markings were overpainted and replaced by Luftwaffe markings in the historical pictures. So these parts were sprayed in Vallejo´s 71.015 before Vallejo´s Olive Drab 71.043 was sprayed. The lower part received a mix of Vallejo´s 71.120 and 71.121.

Thanks, Alec!
Lots of corrections were done and decals applied. Also superchargers and exhausts were painted. Next is gloss coat as preparation for weathering process 🙂

Thanks Lukasz and welcome aboard 🙂
And of course thanks to all whose left a like 🙂
7 October 2023, 07:48

Pinwash and weathering was done using oils. Exhaust strains were sprayed with airbrush.

Aircraft has been completed. Happy to have this one completed, as of the certain problems with that kit. Next step is crafting the diorama 🙂

Thanks, Gentlemen!
Still waiting for some miniatures for the dio. Found some handy guys for an inspection scene --> germania-figuren.eu/..raun-mit-offizieren/

Thank you all for your kind comments!
@subotai: My fault, its 72, watermarked several projects in a row and forgot to put the right scale.
28 October 2023, 11:53

Actually I planned to display a staff car and several figures for an inspection scene. Both suitable staff cars and figures in 72 are rare. So the ACE Opel Olympia kit found it´s way to the work bench.
Never ever had such a bad kit. After almost 10 days of constantly sanding and test fitting, I gave up and banned the kit. Same with figures from Revell, I actually nominated to be part of the scene.
Some modifications for the setup were made and the very nice Opel Blitz from Roden and really nice figures from Germania and CMK are the new actors.
The truck will be displayed while unloading some looted allied bomber stuff. Therefore I cutted the plastic tarp and moulded the opened tarp using sculpt.
For the "presentation" of the guns, I provided a suitable table using evergreen profiles. The MG´s coming from Eduard with very nice details.
19 November 2023, 14:37

Finally the Opel Blitz was completed. The canvas is not glued yet, as I need to place some accessoires on the truck first. The Roden kit was a pleasure to build. Painted with acrylics, weathering with both acrylics and oils. Some crates were made from balsa wood, to make sure the bombs are stored safely while the truck is in motion.

Painting marathon of 14 figures completed. Figures came from CMK and 3D- printed Germania- Figuren. Quality is slightly disappointing, those from CMK are quite roughly sculpted and the molding is rather poor with some holes. Printing quality of the 3D- figures could be better as the surface is covered with very thin lines, which appear during the painting process. No chance to finish with washes or oils as these make that lines become very prominent. But all in all im quite happy with the result 🙂

I agree with Rui. Those figures are really a masterpiece! I like the civilian figures best. The shading on the coats and the hat. Beautiful!!!

Thank you very much for your kind words, Gentlemen! And thanks to all those who left a like!

Great work! I like pics 58/59...the little dudes look like they are trying to keep their balance and not fall off the stick! 😁
27 December 2023, 21:56

Thanks Finn and Mike! Hard workout for the dudes, as they need to keep their balance until the dio is completed 😄
29 December 2023, 08:32

Completed 🙂 First rollout in 2024, what a quick one 😄 Just semi satisfied with the result....
Some bullets on my "what- to- do- better- next- time- list": As always; improving figure painting in terms of shading. Gras is out of scale for 72, mixed 2mm and 4,5mm fibres, those are just too long - so it ended up in a wild meadow 🙂 Better illumination for my pics.
1 January 2024, 15:17

Congrats on the completion of this wonderful dio, looks very nice to me 👍
1 January 2024, 15:37

Lovely finish, congrats.
I have the feeling you're too harsh - the meadow looks great and irregular, I don't think the airfields were cut as short as the British grass used to be 😉
Shading the figures is 72nd is very hard to achieve and you did it great, keep it up 👍 I hope I could reach this level of figure painting one day 👍
1 January 2024, 16:18

of course there is always room for improvement (hard for you at your current level 😉 ) but it looks really awesome in my opinion. do not worry much about the grass, most likely luftwaffe personal had better things to do than mown the grass, so it may be really accurate 😉
1 January 2024, 18:40

Thanks for your encouraging comments, mates!
@Lukasz The missing maintenance on the grass was also my first thought, when I realized the scale fail 🙂
@Spanjaard WOW what a compliment concerning the improvements, thanks a Million!

Beautiful Dio! You mentioned that there were a lot of mistakes made on this build, but a lot of us wouldn't even notice that! I think your work is among the best on this site because there's that drive to constantly improve and learn from your mistakes - my only observation is to take in the heaps of praise on your builds and enjoy the fruits of your labor like we are! 😀
1 March 2024, 15:59

Thanks for your kind words! Improvement, learning from mistakes and exploring new horizons is one of the modelling spirits to me - besides the meditative mood 🙂
