RAPWI - Arens Airlines

After the surrender Japan at the end of WWII the Recovery-Rescue (of)Allied Prisoners (of) War (and) Internees (RAPWI) was set up.
The Dutch part (also knows as "Arens Airlines" after its commanding officer) of that used about 25+ Japanse airplanes. Among others the Tachikawa 54c (10), the Mitsubishi Ki 57 (5), Yokusuka K5Y1 (15) two seat trainers and a Nakajima A6M2 float plane. Also some Mitchells and Dakota's were used. Some Showa L2D3 transports (a Japanese version of the Douglas DC-3 which was also known as Nakajima L2D) were on nomination to be used but were in to bad a state.
The Japanese aircraft were used until May 1946, when the use of Japanese aircraft was forbidden by the Dutch military command.
