Upon arrival at Etampes there were no planes for the Polish and Czech pilots. This, and the general state of disrepair and lack of frontline action, left Zumbach very critical of the AdA and it's French pilots in general.
Between his arrival at Etampes DAT in May 1940 and June 5th he flew Morane-Saunier MS406C.1 no. 595 (L5-34) ten times (no victories). He also flew no.663 claiming a share in a BF109e before being immediately shot down himself.
The aircraft itself was assigned to CIC Chartres on May 10 before transferring to Chateaudun (May 13) and then on to Etampes (May 18). The aircraft retained it's distinctive CIC marking on the tail throughout. Once again, according to Zumbach, the plane was in poor condition and the last take off was recorded as June 10th 1940, there is no further data thereafter. Last seen abandoned and in pieces at Etampes (photo in the album).
