My father and mother were both Sharmy.............I am not so good in relative abbreviations but my sister is more from him than me. I look more like his brother or my second uncle. Anyway, his pictures are not really all with me as his wife never gave them to anybody............she still have them.
19 June 2012, 21:52

I understand why she has them still, but maybe she might let you copy them...

Ali Sharmy was the brother of my mom. He retired in 1971. Tahseen Zaki, his friend took over the Sukhoi 7 Squadron and fought during the 1973 war. My uncle died in 1988

28 June 2012, 11:27

28 June 2012, 17:41

Has anybody heard of a kit of me..................maybe somebody could build me as well. I will add some old EAF pictures soon..................Cheers lads. You are all are one hell of a company..............we should live in one compound. would`nt it be lovely.
28 June 2012, 22:32

That would be awesome.
But I think we would'nt have any time to build I think we weould chatter all day long. 🙂
28 June 2012, 23:14

Yes, you are right mr cook but still a chat about all of that is yum yum yum
29 June 2012, 00:24

does anyone have decals of Uncle Ali's spitfire ? or maybe some generic EAF decals that i could use on the MK 22 in 1/72?
29 June 2012, 18:15

Sherif, I was wondering what would be the proper colors to use when painting Uncle Ali's plane in 1/72 scale. ? Do not want to offend anyone by displaying the incorrect colors ?
29 June 2012, 18:19

It was bare metal and not camo. I have the Matchbox 1/32 kit as well as the 3rd photo. Spitfire 22 were all bare metal. It will be easy painting but of decals, I am not so sure but the one I have is from......................errrrr...............not so sure i will look and let you know
29 June 2012, 22:51

Remember this sheet is for the 1/32 Matchbox kit
By photoshop
Width 736 pixels
Height 736 pixels
Doc. size
Width 3.68 inch
Height 3.68 inch
This is 96% exact size on the screen
I will add an album
29 June 2012, 23:25

This was added in 1980`s with an old magazine called scale aircraft modelling by Allan W. Hall
29 June 2012, 23:29

Remember, it is in a nylon bag thats why it looks like some parts are out of color.
Also, the sizes i wrote in a previous message is what i am seeing on my monitor so I am not so sure about printers as i never did that before.
30 June 2012, 00:57

Sherif, Thank you, bare metal right and the decals are going to make it really interesting. Have never done a early 1950's EAF plane so this will be something nice. Hopefully I will do your uncles plane well.
30 June 2012, 03:11

A grave error..............sorry lads. This decal sheet came with one of the issue of scale aircraft modeller and it is for the Lancaster in 1/72 scale not 1/32 scale. Sorry lads
30 June 2012, 23:57

More pictures for the spitfire F22. Notice the rocket racks and the belly tank
1 July 2012, 02:38

Cool, I found some generic EAF decals so I am set to try to replicate your uncle's plane when I get my airfix spitfire F 22
2 July 2012, 16:44

Interesting pictures.
You know you have the decals for EAF 681 in this kit?
Supermarine Spitfire Mk.22 (AZmodel AZ7353, 1:72)

When is the scramble?
My uncle was in the air force till 1964 when he was forced out during nasser`s regime as he demanded more protection to airports and particularly pens for planes and more dispersal of aircraft to satellite strips but to no avail. Remember, my uncle came from a rich family during farouk`s rule and he was considered, like mamy others, anti nasser. But, his point of view with others proved right during the six day war. Saddat appointed all of them as consultants after nasser`s death and all were architects of the defense of airports during the 1973 war...................good luck John and as soon as i finish my room i am going to start with the matchbox kit too. Cheers

I think that your uncle was very brave and very wise in his stance on dispersal of planes and blast pens for planes. We need to consult with each other on the planes and remember that we all draw inspiration from your uncle and other pilots of all stripes and colors.

His picture and his Spitfire22 which he attacked Israeli positions in Sinai during the 1956 war. As far as I knew from him he attacked twice.
