Not again, haven't we had enough watching him struggle with Eduardarrrgghh

Undercarriage piped up and done as well as the prop and spinner. 

Interior of wings and coolers finished. 

Cockpit and exhausts done. 

 

Not going well together with me 'n' Eddie probably a bit more of me as usual. Anyway had to scrape away a lot of plastic from the wing root on the portside to get rid of a massive step and the top of the female part of the undercarriage plug, there is still a slight step. But I am not going in with sanders as I would lose detail. All that just to get a fit and the dihedral. 

I laud Edward for the detail, but because of said problems shown in the previous snap, there is a misalignment of the centre line. I could sand it out, re-scribe and re-rivet. Life's to short, as long as I turn out a reasonable looking, fairly accurate model then I'm happy and that's what counts.

Mistakes and imperfections shown up under the primer to be rectified. 

Sand, sand, sand, prime, sand, sand prime, sand, prime, prime, sand, sand, ooh paint! Sand, sand, sand, prime. Buggerit! I'm going T'Club fer a Pint. . . . . . Or three, four, five. 

Yellow nose/tail done and spinner/prop finished plus interior RLM02 too. 

Some masking to do, then onto the main painting. 

RLM76 Applied to the appropriate areas. 

 

Trust me, to pick a scheme that needs a lot of masking. 

 

RLM74 and RLM75 Applied. 

Preliminary camouflage put down, some tidying up to do and then doodling/noodling the mottling. 

This is mocked up at the moment. Areas need touching/cleaning up. Mottling finished just varying shades of RLM74 and not that accurate if you look at the pattern on the teaser, but I'm happy with it. I found the portside painted radiator flap I had been looking for. For a week! I don't know why it was in our bedroom.

The curse of Eduard decals, they float, they move as you are trying to expel excess water, air. They break up when applying decal solution. I was not even trying to take away the carrier film. Solution, get them aligned and leave alone to adhere and partially dry, then work them, leave the carrier film on, varnish to bed them. Have a few beers, turn your head to the wall, cry and vow you will never leave Tamiya ever. 

Wet 'n' dried the decal, masked off and painted in the black. On de-masking the llooooooooowwwwwww, low tack tape more decal came away. Now then Mark shouldn't you have varnished it before to protect it. Yes, but in my defence the Wife's in Canada visiting the Daughter and I was euphoric and combined beers with modelling. 

And riding over the hill, bugles blaring comes Techmod to the rescue. Scoured my three boxes of decals and found a generic sheet of balkankreuzes.
