That's some serious masonry you had to do to fill up the seams... looking good, nice attention to details - the Kestrels markings should make it quite the looker, joining to follow!
23 September 2019, 20:08

haha, yeah, this one took buckets of putty, having its revenge because i was impatient in lining things up - it does fit somehow but needs careful alignment and glueing cm after cm. But I am going to battle it into submission anyhow, you're welcome to watch 🙂
23 September 2019, 20:41

It's waiting in the box, deprioritized to two aggressor Vipers. :/ But after that, it's next in line - I promise 😄
25 September 2019, 20:00

Thx for stopping by Jos!
You are excused sergej😉 looking forward to your vipers as well!
My GB Viper will have to wait until end of October, not because of this, but bc I m not returning to my main work bench for one month...got only my "portable" stuff with me here, hence the bad light+bad photos :/
26 September 2019, 13:44

tried out black basing, just out of curiosity & since I had too much black primer in the cup - but I think it has it perks 🙂
26 September 2019, 22:20

Thank you Roland and bryn! I will use the last sunlight this evening to get the dark ghost gray going, dont trust my room light...stay tuned guys!
27 September 2019, 15:05

main colors are down! dampened the black basing effect quite a bit since I want it pretty clean, but it still shows nice irregular shades. Will be a great base for further improvements
27 September 2019, 18:08

Very nice work so far Daniel! That's what I love about the black base technique, you can control how much of the effect you let show. Very versatile and the best part is the randomness the effect creates, compared to the standard preshading technique, which can be a bit too uniform for my taste.
27 September 2019, 19:09

thank you Michael, I found it a bit harder to control than my usual 'white basing' but maybe because I am new to this. Generally I think the effect does not differ that much from making black dots on a white surface, but the panel lines dont appear as uniform, thats a plus. I'll experiment further.
The egg plant grey is on, it is a bit darker than the original but matches the decal color, I will try a bleaching effect later when everything is on.
27 September 2019, 20:08

Can't believe I've been missing this, sorry I'm late. Looking good
29 September 2019, 03:20

Clifford, Gareth and Donald, thanks for joining in and I am glad you like her!
Did some post-shading and some detail painting and I guess the decals are next in line. Took some pics in the morning light so you can finally see something^^
29 September 2019, 08:25

starting with decaling, got the angry rooster on the fins, bowie knife as well😉
1 October 2019, 18:32

Decals look pretty solid, good coverage properties & colors true to the original - nice work!
1 October 2019, 21:08

Thankyou slavo, cant go wrong with Furball decals, they are a joy to work with as well 👍
2 October 2019, 05:38

A suggestion. Get a couple of these. They work great for posing or holding the plane up while you work on it. flightpose.com/
3 October 2019, 11:18

nice stuff, but normally I build my own stands for inflight displays. this one will get its legs soon, the paint bottle was just helping out for some photos 🙂
3 October 2019, 16:28

I think that Donald means that those posts could act as a paint bottle, not as an in-flight display. 😉
3 October 2019, 17:14

I like ow the tan radome tip turned out. How did you manage to mask that that evenly?
3 October 2019, 17:15

Patrick, they are great for both. Mine wouldnt do for posing as they have paint all over them. To me, thats where they really come into their own. They are great for holding it up while building and painting and such.
3 October 2019, 21:22

This is really coming along nicely! Love these markings, I actually have a project set up for the same markings using the very same kit. Getting excited to see what comes next!
Donald, thanks for that link. I think I may get one of those for the exact same use as you. What size one do you have?
3 October 2019, 23:11

I have the small and the medium. The large would be way big for anything other than a display. A friend in my old IPMS club uses them to display his builds at shows as he likes to build them in flight.
4 October 2019, 00:44

thank you for the kind words guys! I personally think this is one of the best looking navy designs out there, looking very much forward to your take on it Michael, Im a bit of a fan of your work 🙂
@Patrick: I used this flexible white tape from tamiya and just followed the panel line
4 October 2019, 19:43

I really adore how you were able to get that skunk line to match with the decal color of the nose modex! Very well done! 👍
5 October 2019, 05:48

Supergeil Daniel. Was für ein Schätzchen. Wenn ich meine baue, muss ich auch auf das Lex achten.
5 October 2019, 06:29

Looking great, the Kestrels outfit is a home-run, but the underside job of progressing weathering also brings up a smile of approval😉 Looking forward to the final bits of candy!
5 October 2019, 09:06

Thank you Patrick and Slavo, its great you approve 🙂 Im quite happy with how the colors match up as well, not much work on my part because Furball and AK were on the same page with their FS36076
& Dankeschön Holger! Es sind irgendwie oft so Kleinigkeiten, die das Gesamtbild doch insgesamt verbessern 🙂
5 October 2019, 16:19

Thanks a lot Stephan and Clifford!
Finished the wash and next up will bei flat coat and then oils - which are 400 km away and will be picked up next week (just as my group build material)
7 October 2019, 19:07

🙂 well...the decal choice shows that they have taste - too bad that the rest in this box is just crap
8 October 2019, 20:55

maybe its time to change that jos😉 I would like to reserve a seat then
9 October 2019, 21:54

and yes Donald, you assume correctly, I built their growler spin-off and I think its my worst kit-experience so far...
9 October 2019, 21:56

I started this year with a Canuck Hornet, a CF-18. He's on my shelf of doom now...want to finish that one!
9 October 2019, 21:58

I am more than happy with the Revell offering, so I will stick with that. LOL
9 October 2019, 23:23

hola compadres, little preview of the oil weathering i am working on right now. But veeery sloooow progress as I am pretty busy atm, mainly with work...sucks...hope to start my aggressor next week
22 October 2019, 18:35

Looking good Daniel. Weathering is going make it really come to life.
24 October 2019, 11:46

Thanks a lot mates! Oils are always a fun step, close to the finish line
24 October 2019, 11:53
