I continue to make TurAF models for our association's book project. This time it was the turn of the C-47 Dakota, which has been used in various divisions of our Air Force for long years. For this, I used one of the recently molded Airfix kits. Making the model was pretty quick and easy. Although I hoped it would be one of the latest Airfix kits that I was very pleased with in general, there were three elements that i didn't like at all. The first is a gap of more than a millimeter at the junction of the left wing to the fuselage. This situation surprised me a lot, I checked many times to see if I made a mistake myself, but no, I did the same on the right side and there was no problem on that side. I think this is an individual case as I have completed another version of the same kit (Danair DC-3) which had no issues in that area. The second is that the canopy glass is given in pieces, it is angled, and it takes a lot of effort to avoid mistakes during gluing. Lastly, my criticism is for the panel lines. Multiply the thickness of those lines by 72, and on a real plane, my fist would almost fit inside those lines. In reality, this plane would not be able fly. I actually had to fill in and redraw these lines, but I decided it wasn't worth the effort for a 72 scale kit and built it right out of the box. But in the end it was a serious disappointment for me. Since KV models mask sets are vinyl based, they are not as useful as yellow kabuki paper sets, but I used them because I couldn't find any other sets for the C-47 in the market. Babibi decal set was also good in general, but it seemed a little thick to me. It wasn't even possible to cover the thickness of the red propeller warning line with varnish.
