The military version of the US built Lockheed Model 14 Super Electra was received by the RAF just before WW2 named the Lockheed Hudson. 🙂

Pulling up a seat for this one. An unsung aircraft of WW2, in that it doesn't get enough recognition for the service it performed. Also, some of these older Airfix kits are better than most people realise. All comes down to how well they are built.

Today I finally made a start on the Hudson. Inside of aircraft painted Vallejo Model Air Interior Grey Green. Pilot, navigator and gunner added. Wheel wells also painted interior grey green and glued together. Next will be adding all of the windows prior to gluing the fuselage together. 🙂

Thanks for the kind comment Stephen, I agree with you. 👍

Following along. I love how the notion of the pilots slumped in their seats was a thing back in the day. God forbid one of them might have a hand on any controls 😄

Amazing how even one coat of camouflage colour can make such a difference to the overall look of the kit. Really coming together nicely.

Gloss varnish added and then decals applied. First set of side decals were too large for the aircraft so took them off and went with the 206 Sqn decals instead. 🙂

Coming along nicely. Amazing how much decals add to the overall look. The kit looks to be accurate in outline.

Now completed, a couple of Ammo Mig washes added to slightly weather the aircraft. Matt varnish added and then the masks removed. (this proved a bit of a pain especially for some of the small windows) Final pieces added and then the rigging to finish it off. An old tool model which proved to be a challenge but quite satisfying. 🙂

The model depicted is one from 206 Sqn RAF based at RAF St. Eval during 1941.

Thanks for the kind comments Stephen & Jennifer, your encouragement is greatly appreciated. 👍

Hello Guy, well blow me down if I am not currently reading a book about the Australian coastwatchers who reported on Japanese activities throughout the Second World War. Just finished reading about the Australian defeat at Rabaul and the role of the RAAF. Turns out the longest Australian reconnaissance flight undertaken by the RAAF was in a Lockheed Hudson. And that the aircraft was highly capable and regarded by us Aussies. Incredible coincidence considering you have finished this model. Cheers from Melbourne, from you know who…

@Stephen: Glad you enjoyed the book. I was going to do an Aussie version but the Humbrol paints equivalents were too vague for me. The last time I was in Melbourne was in 2006, great city, I'm sure it's changed a lot since. 👍
