I attempted to preshade the details, which didn't end up working out 

I used some regular navy blue spray paint I already had kicking about, which ended up giving me disastrous results. The color is way off, and despite my best attempts at doing light coats it laid down very thick and with a rough finish 

First time masking a canopy, not terrible eh? Also began trying to sand smooth rough spray paint finish
