when anyone has a AMK kit of the Fouga, and doesn't intend to use the decals for a belgian version, would it be possible to give a PM? I'm looking for on of those markings.

I've checked it in the book from Tine Soetaert (SCM Book: Fouga Magister ) and on Belgian-wings.be: [img1]
It should be there, maybe not on all aircraft, but...

oops, sorry, had the wrong antenna in mind, will delete these...

Quick question, when one of the indicated control surfaces points up, the other one should point down? From the kit you have the possiblity to mount them straight or both down...

Yes they should when in flight. But, and it's just a tought, when parked and the hydraulic pressure is gone they both can drop down. Unless the are controlled by a cable ofcourse.

Thx, it was just to be sure. They were mechanically linked, so when the control surface was actuated from outside, the control stick moves also...

first black base applied... seems ok at first sight with regards to little seems and so. Finally found a descent way to remove these. I apply a bit of revel contacta over the seem, smear it open and let it dry. Then you can sand it as regular plastic. Sometimes it takes several applications, but it works fine for me... now on to the white for the dayglow orange, and the aluminium

would it help to give it more red sheen by overspraying the orange with clear red? Or just keep it as it is?

What paint did you used for the dayglo Bart? My choice would be Humbol 209
13 June 2016, 12:23

I have used a white background and MP4 orange from zero paints: zero-paints.com/user..jimi_60ml_75692.jpeg
seems there's also some mp4 red... something to keep in mind for the future...

Long time ago I have build a Dutch Harvard with dayglo panels and if I remember correctly I had use a paint can from Revell. Do not know what number offcourse. My choice nog would be Humbrol 209 mixed with some red. The MP4 should do the trick also I guess

how long does alclad have to cure before applying decals? and do you need to apply some protective coat before or afterwards?
17 June 2016, 07:20

Don't know Bart, never used it but I heard it's quite tricky stuff so take caution with it I guess. The result of your nmf paintjob is very good! 👍

I have applied decals straight onto alclad with application of set and sol from micro scale without any problems. But try a scrap piece of plastic with alclad and decals if you wish to be sure
17 June 2016, 17:06

started applying the decals. (with a special thx to Dirk for sending these from the AMK-kit to me) alclad and Daco decalsetting doesn't work well, also the correction of the dayglo orange didn't go as planned. In the end I put on a new coat of alclad on the damaged parts (forgot the front of the wing as it seems) and protected it with tamiya clear. It lost a lot of its shiny'ness, but that's ok when looking at the real aircraft. Just saw on the pictures I need to add an extra vent behind the last canopy...
The decals from the AMK kit work well... they seems rather thick at first, but apply well and take the form of the details willingly.

no, not unusable, but I wanted to make a Belgian aircraft, but not in a red devil-livrey. So a few months ago I gave my set to someone who wanted to make the complete set of red devils, and he would give his left over decals to me... never happened, and Dirk sent me his set, as the aircraft was already painted for the bare aluminium one

Thx, finished decalling... some slight repairs, landing gear and clearparts...
25 June 2016, 08:22

finished... at last. a lot could be done, but it seems I have to repair more and more damage from touching this model... Maybe later I will apply a wash, but for now it's finished...

Looks good Bart, I should leave it the way it is and maybe build another one in the future. You made the best out of this not so good kit👍

Hi Bart, nice model of an truly pretty aircraft.
Clean built and good paintjob. I`m curious and hope to see it in Mol.

Album info
My Construction of the Kinetic Fouga Magister. I want to build 1 in Belgian colours, but I don't know whether it will be the showbird or a bare metal one, and one in IDF markings.
