No, I think this is well and truly going into the bin. Maybe salvage a few parts but it's pretty well totalled as far as I'm concerned

maybe one of those crazy transformations? i have seen a few (never done one myself) like taking a Me-262 to make the Tintin submarine for example.....

There was also damage to the landing gear on a Triebflugel I've been working on. Easily fixed but lesson learned. FWIW, there was also a Dragon 1/48 Me163 fuselage in the same container with no damage.

no damage to one and the other completely going bananas?.. that tells a lot about plastic quality.... which brand was the supermarine?
7 March 2017, 12:16

never done one of that brand and i doubt i will after seeing this.....I remember i did not like their paints 20 years ago, but that may have been more my fault anyway 😛

It's not a bad kit nor was the Testors GeeBee Racer I did. Just don't like hot weather in a sealed container I guess. In Adelaide terms it wasn't that hot. 🙂
7 March 2017, 12:42

if it would have been really hot, i guess you would have simply find melted plastic then 😄
7 March 2017, 13:09

looking back, i see that one of the transformations that i was talking about was actually yours 😉
but i was mostly thinking about the one from Greg Tintin Shark Submarine - Completed | Album by strobez (1:72) ,although yours is also quite good too.

Wow... well, if you ever wondered what Salavador Dali would be like as a model maker, now you know!

"Wow... well, if you ever wondered what Salavador Dali would be like as a model maker, now you know!" 👍
Now, that's funny, I don't care who you are!! 🙂
7 March 2017, 13:59

It is funny, I laughed. Now that's an interesting idea. A Salvador Supermarine S6.
🙂

Go with it Ben. 🙂 bet one could spend a bit of time looking over Dali's paintings and adapt his style to this warped model. Might just be great...?
7 March 2017, 14:50

certainly it will be unique 🙂
worse case scenario, will be the bin, which is what you were going to do already
7 March 2017, 16:59

A Banana Splitfire !! 😄 😄 😄
too cool !!
this one would be perfect for the Pudding Planes 😄
Anyhow, long time no hear Ben,
hope life is all good for you 🙂

Good thanks Choppa, busy at work so not much time for modelling, just started a 1/48 resin Bristow Short Crusader but got others to finish off also.
26 August 2017, 01:03

Geez Ben it's not even summer yet! Where did you have it stored? In the oven... You gotta paint it yellow with little brown bits! 🙂
26 August 2017, 03:39

wow, at first glance i thought it was one of those "mystery projects"
26 August 2017, 06:26

Yes the guy with the damage. He dont have to care about the joking....hm seems Airfix has very soft Plastic
26 August 2017, 07:02

@Glenn, it happened last Australian summer, in Adelaide they can get pretty brutal 35-40 degrees is very common. It was stored in a plastic storage box on the back patio undercover. Only this and a HUMA Triebflugel were damaged so it's just shit plastic.
@Achim, it was a Testors kit.

Choppa is a humorous fella, of course he sees bananas. I though, am spicy and see red Serrano peppers and leaves.
4 September 2017, 11:52

oh man, cut the crap 😉 , make it a pepperana, yellow/brown floats and a red body with leafgreen wings...
4 September 2017, 12:55

Wait wait wait... I already won this thread with the Salvador Dali Supermarine comment... move along.

Album info
This is what can happen during the South Australian summer. It was kept in a plastic container in a plastic storage box in the shade outdoors. It probably happened over a few days of 32-37 degrees Celsius. Never had this before, obviously the type of plastic.
🙁
