Made my mind up Marty, she'll be fairy pristine. I also have a Mk 1 in the stash. I could beat the stuffing out of that and put them side by side.
9 December 2019, 08:43

Yay, Viper! 👍
I think that`s how destiny shows me to paint Cosmo Falcon
9 December 2019, 10:23

A new Mk II to replace the virtually destroyed Mk I. Good story!
9 December 2019, 11:32

I'm down for a fracking good time. Anyone want to play a game of pyramid?
9 December 2019, 13:20

Peter has a sci-if gig?? I am in, although such lack of focused thematic direction is somewhat worrisome to me. Or inspirational?? I have to think about which... 😄
9 December 2019, 14:59

Worrisome. 😛
But a frakking Viper? Count me in, I love these things.
Gotta roll the hard six on the weathering though. I've never seen a moderately weathered. Most go for the FUBAR-look or the shiny, brand-new Starbuck one.
Too bad you can't spray right now. But at least you're not in Brisbane! 😮
9 December 2019, 15:39

Whoa... why was I not informed of his earlier? I must bear witness to this...
11 December 2019, 05:11

Nice heads-up on the brittle decals mate, but Mr Ramjet does a good job of hiding it. Solid work so far!
But aren't you going to add a reversing camera? ;p
11 December 2019, 05:22

I wouldn't rule it out just yet Rene. I am fully capable of a surprise or two.
11 December 2019, 08:57

Gap filling without the mess is best done with superglue 'gel'. 👍
Thicker than the usual clear superglue and sandable when dry. 😉
I do like the 'cans', and the pilot looks a treat. 👍
11 December 2019, 12:19

Looks like a ton of putty with some model on it!😉 And a greasy fingerprint on the upper engine cowling on pic 23... 😄
11 December 2019, 12:19

Just teasing - great to see this old fellow built! - if Troy Bayliss would go to space, he´d want to go in one of these... Engine section looks most promising already 👍
11 December 2019, 12:20

Holy cow. I knew the fit isn't stellar with those things, but you have a puttyparty on your hands 😮
Greasy fingerprints happen. Gotta have beer and peanuts when watching Galactica 😛
11 December 2019, 12:23

i have one in my stash, so really interested in what you do with yours 🙂
11 December 2019, 13:41

That's some nice work on the exhausts and cockpit Peter. I can't wait to see what you do with the rest.
11 December 2019, 14:40

When I was a kid, a friend's older brother built this one with the engine nozzle assembly just pushed in place, not glued on. He showed me how he stored his weed inside of it in a little baggie.
15 December 2019, 02:06

Well, our hobby is so much more than you see on the surface... 👍
Taking shape nicely, looking forward to the paint job once dust turns into aerosol liquid again at your side of the globe!😉
15 December 2019, 11:26

Haha Ben that friend is a genius. I recently got some of those little scale leaf punches, and I was thinking how it'd be funny for the company to make one for hemp leaves. That'd be some diorama.
15 December 2019, 15:23

Peter, no point to my story, just flashed into my mind when I saw your Viper. I guess that would have been the old MPC? Viper from the 70's, not this awesome one. I built one myself without the weed storage capability.
15 December 2019, 19:49

Hard to see, but the white seems to have went down nicely😎
Moved the airbrush chamber into the fridge? 😛
15 December 2019, 20:01

Rene, Slavo, I can get up very early and get some quick airbrushing in but again, it's gotta be quick! I'll get the red stripes on the upper bodywork done today.
Ben, Viper is from the 70s. Moulding is very basic. Not many panel lines to work with. Not really sure how I can upgrade the level of external detail but I have plenty of time in the hobby room aircon. I have no excuses for a visually boring build!
15 December 2019, 21:40

Both Peter and myself are having to deal with this extremely hot weather, all in 40c plus on a daily basis.
Dust everywhere. 🙁 🙁 🙁
15 December 2019, 21:52

prepare some models, do sanding, and leave them all ready to be painted in winter😉
15 December 2019, 22:07

Gladly! 42*C here again today. 49*C in Birdsville, 51*C in Oodnadatta.
15 December 2019, 22:22

24c is comfortable, I start melting at the 28c mark too... I'm glad I don't live in your upside-down Aussie world Peter 😛 42c is 107f!!! I would be a worthless sack of a human seeking air conditioning and beer as I melt. Next are you going to say "but it's a dry heat"? 😛 My grandparents would say that all the time living in Arizona. lol
15 December 2019, 23:36

i rather take 45 and dry than 35 and wet... any time. and i know both pretty well 😛
16 December 2019, 00:48

Thanks Mick, got a long way to go yet but flying thingys are a steep learning curve!
16 December 2019, 10:36

This can't be the old Viper from the 70s. It's the MK2 from the more recent remake with the female Starbuck 😛 less cheesy as well.
Makes the bad fit even worse 🙂
40°... Anything above 25 is uncomfortable and 30 starts to torture my sweat glands. 😄
But good thing you've got the morning hours. The red stripes came out quite nice, albeit a bit too bright shade of red.
16 December 2019, 13:58

Great going. As for the temps, I am with Spaanjard here. Singapore with 30 and 100% humidity was far worse than 45 in Patras, Greece.
16 December 2019, 15:35

A humble comment from a man also working on some nozzles at the same time: these look great!😉 👍
16 December 2019, 20:54

Yes, there is more to learn when you expand your imagination to more than motorcycles! LOL
16 December 2019, 22:11

Rene, give me time to dull it all down Mate!
Lode, haven't seen the second series. Still secretly in lust with the "dirty socialator" Cassiopeia.
Jimbo, thank you! I am a Sci Fi fan and have been itching to get at this one.
Slavo, Tim has been badgering me for six months to try pastels. She'll be covered in chalk by the time I am finished.
Tim, shut up.
17 December 2019, 07:34

Yeah! Wilma and the giggle about the three shells in the toilet!
17 December 2019, 10:55

Nice! As for the intakes. Correct me if I am wrong, but the Vipers can go into a planets atmosphere. Perhaps at that time the engines switch to a combustion type system and then need the intakes?
17 December 2019, 16:43

Yep they are capable of atmospheric flight 🙂
Just picking, Peter 😛
She's looking fine 🙂
17 December 2019, 17:20

Cassiopeia.... i was too young at that time 😛 but i remember the book certainly....
17 December 2019, 19:57

For a bloke who lives in such a rural and removed place, he has got amazing talent and determination to be a great modeller. 👍 😉
3 January 2020, 22:43

Thank you All. I am a bit of a sci fi nut so it was an enjoyable build. Next shots loaded will be of the completed build.
4 January 2020, 00:07

It's also enjoyable to look at! Hefty but sensible chipping, if I remember the series right, the birds looked quite beaten up a few episodes in.
The colourful area around the visible engine parts and exhausts looks cool B)
Seems you could apply some knowledge from your bike builds here.
4 January 2020, 15:20

Has to be better than last year but, the important question is "can the refs be better this year?"
6 January 2020, 10:53

Looks good mate! That burnt area looks great! What did you do, take it outside a bit?
6 January 2020, 14:17

Nice job Peter. Makes me wanna do a sci-fi build 🙂. Hope you are not impacted by the fires too much.
6 January 2020, 15:40

Rene, the Galactica herself if undergoing a refit! It is posted so have a look!
6 January 2020, 21:22

Alec, I'm 2000 kays away from the incinerator. We just get whacked with a cyclone or two every year!
Thanks Jimbo! I will be slowing down from this point as I have to go back to work after 10 weeks recovering.
Thanks Chris, cannot waitto see your first Sci Fi build!
Tim, shut up!
6 January 2020, 21:25

nice job Peter. one question comes to mind now that i see the fotos in the computer... all the red is nicely chipped showing grey or metallic color underneatch... but i see not chipping in the white
8 January 2020, 10:11

Spanjaard, I have given this point a great deal of thought. I have decided the following; the bodywork of the Viper is made from sheet Chipless Imperviousium and does not chip. The red strips are made from non chipless plastisised sheeting, which does. Hope this explains why the 'white' never chips on Vipers. I thought everyone knew that! These facts can now go down in modelling folklore!
8 January 2020, 21:01

Thanks Dave, you have made me smile enough so it is only fair!
Kim, thank you!
J D, got it half built but ran out of skills. When I get nearly as good as you I will try to finish it.
9 January 2020, 08:20

Wow, try and give a compliment, get hit with a compliment...times shure have changed! You rock Pete!
9 January 2020, 22:25

Dogfighting in space is a hell of a dirty work😉 Great stuff, top job on the "space bike"! 👍

Had this a while. Time to do something with it!
