Personal Interest:
The 45th Weather Squadron provided launch weather support for all launches from Cape Canaveral Air Station. I was on duty for several Atlas II launches. There were 31 Atlas launches from CCAS SLC-36A/B during my tour of duty there: 2 Atlas I, 4 Atlas II, 12 Atlas IIA, and 13 Atlas IIAS. The Atlas had a 100% success rate during that timeframe. This model represents an Atlas IIAS rocket configured to carry a GOES weather satellite.
