The mk viii international, which were also really long, were the backbone of the US Army tank corps after WWI. Apparently shedding tracks while turning was an issue. I would imagine the tadpole had the same problem... wonder why they repeated it??

Hmmm probably all they could think of at the time was, the trenches are getting wider the tanks need to be longer, best just point them forwards and not turn, than not have them at all?
