November 18, 2024First coat matte aluminum from AK Extreme metal paints. This take has been sitting in the jungle for 50+ years when the reference photo was taken. It showed signs of metal chipping through the paint and moss that covered the shell. So I thought this would be a great place to start. Will add chipping fluid placement of each color. The black base coat and the thin coat of matte aluminum came out the way I thought it would in my head. Happy accident.21

January 26, 2025It has been a bit since working on this Japanese type 89 tank. This is a survivor that still sits where it was knocked out in the jungles of Bougainville. The photo I have is from the 80s and show that the tank is nearly complete but very worn and appears to even show through to some metal. There is a good amount of black moldy kins of stuff to be put on and some green mossy stuff. It had been sitting in silver just waiting to be painted while I got distracted finishing the KV-1.32

January 30, 2025Started to play around with some of the weathering. Started working on the "moss" that is growing on top of the tank. Have some texture but need to work through the color. Will start just focusing in one smaller area each night and really work through things. Abandon for 50 years is a bit of a challenge.39

Yeah, I do a lot of natural metal aircraft so that kind of helps get through that.
