Great build so far! I've had the same issue with the masking tape, even after leaving it (tamiya) to dry for 5 days. I had to sand/polish off the rough texture. From now on I clear coat anything that needs masking.

I think Tamiya recommends removing the masking tape as soon as the paint becomes "touch" dry, i.e. a few minutes after applying the paint.

I have developed my painting method by doing a lot of mat WW2 airplanes. On a mat plane I can leave masking type for month without any problems. It seem that gloss paint is more sensible on the finish side. I might also have over sprayed since the white was not have a great opacity. That created (I think) a situation were the paint not fully cure when I applied the masking tape.

Now I apply one coat in a particular area and remove the masking tape within the hour. After I wait at least 5 days to leave plenty of time for the paint to dry.
