Excellent switch board ..micro painting with a brush that has less diameter than a human hair? Sounds like hours...and hours ..and hours?
7 February 2017, 07:13

Thanks Willy, quick update on with progress so far on the cockpit.
10 February 2017, 00:47

nice and busy... will you carve in some detail in the dials with a needle?
10 February 2017, 15:44

Hi Guys,
Going to be a empty seat in this one.
Bart, I'm going to try something else for the dials, will show you all one done an take it from there
10 February 2017, 18:13

Thanks Burt,
the dials are airscale decals. the kits decals are somewhat.. sparse.
13 February 2017, 10:51

Thanks Michael, I got one Canopy workable so can complete this one.. the others wait on the other canopys
1 October 2018, 23:15

Looking good Augie. I bought 2 SU-27s and 2 SU-30MKs, I am chomping at the bit to build one, but I think I will have to do the MH-53 first. For future reference, if you are interested Dream Models make a beautiful Photo etch detail set for those kits. They are aviabale from Lucky Models.
2 October 2018, 13:40

Healing is going well, I am walking with just a cane. I get my Staples removed Friday, So I am well on the mend. Thanks for asking.Looking forward to seeing your build finished.
4 October 2018, 00:54

Clifford, good news sir!!!
Augie, looks great! I like your work on the exhaust areas. Taking notes. 🙂
5 October 2018, 02:50

Thanks Don,
So base coat is on, anice Vellejo AV72334 Flanker light blue, goes on like a dream.. once its cooked off will give it a light buff with 5000 grit to take any bemishes and brushmarks out then move on to the grey.
I'm painting in early style scheme for reference.
7 October 2018, 19:51

Looking good Aug's. I have started the MH-53E project, have spent the last 2 days just filling ejector pin marks. Have never seen so many in my life.
9 October 2018, 20:35

Count me in Augie, looking great so far! And the canopy cavalry will be on the way soon... 😉
10 October 2018, 02:56

Thanks Michael, the paints nice, tho they dont go far, one bottle a coat!
10 October 2018, 16:37

I am going to give the MRP paints a go, I hear they are very good.
11 October 2018, 01:46

Augie ,you store models under construction like I do. Great build.
11 October 2018, 11:34

Ha thanks bill, only when paint drying. Cuts down on bits sticking an hairs getting stuck
11 October 2018, 11:41

Augie. Image 17 looks like prepping with an airbrush. !
Is there something your not telling us. ? Mmmmmmmm?
I am most impressed with what your achieving here. 👍
12 October 2018, 00:55

Lol cheeksy sods, this one i openly admit is airbrushed, firs one and to be frank the last i hate airvrushes an will be getting rid
12 October 2018, 07:30

why? To be honest, I had the same issues a while back, and now, I'm getting fond of it, but it has a learning curve, but it took me a while and a lot of testing before I felt confident enough.... Ok preparation and cleaning takes longer than the actual airbrushing, but in the end... It's a golden tool... even when only used to apply the base colors... Brushpainting is still done by me, but mainly details, wheels, etc...
12 October 2018, 07:56

Its far more labour intensive for ne, cleaning it etc. Yeah its good for base coats but just too much faf
12 October 2018, 08:20

cleaning takes no more than 5 minutes and a couple of rounds in my cheap ultra sonic cleaner after that....having said that not all AB's are the same in the cleaning department.....
12 October 2018, 10:57

So busy night with the hairy stick, camo is on, needs touching up as the pain is very thin
12 October 2018, 20:53

Lol thanks Kerry, i'll probably need it, the paint is ok, but brush paints a little interesting with it.
The paint scheme is interesting my next challenge is how to tone them down as every picture I have seen they almost blend into one.
12 October 2018, 23:41

As with all your other paint jobs. No doubt, there will be a masterful solution you will hatch. 😉
Pastels. ? maybe. ! Mmmmmm 👍
13 October 2018, 01:41

Do you still need to seal it with a varnish before decals? If so, you can precolor it, just add a few drops of blue to it as a first blend, then maybe some foto-filters...
13 October 2018, 05:53

Thanks Guys, Good idea on the pastels / chalks, tinting varnish.. will have a play with one of the wrecks today an see what I can work out
Welcome Florent, I'm sure there's plenty of spare seats 🙂 Kerry will pass you a beer😉
13 October 2018, 09:04

I was nice and didnt point out your cheating with the AB.😉 For me, I have never been able to manage a decent finish with a brush on large areas. I used rattle cans when I was a kid, and moved up to air brushes. But you always manage to make them look good!
13 October 2018, 15:24

well, to be honest, i could not do models without the airbrush. but when you are as good as you are with the hairy stick, i can unddestand you do not want to use anything else!! 🙂
13 October 2018, 19:36

btw what brand of paint and numbers did you use, since last weekend I was able to lay my hand on a Akan set at the Belgian IMPS national convention
13 October 2018, 19:51

Beatiful job so far Augie. Please tell me what colors you used, as an Su-27 will be my next project. I will try and get so pictures of progress on the MH-53 up tomorrow.
14 October 2018, 23:58

Clifford, colours are 71.334 Flanker light blue, 71.335 Flanker light grey, 71.337 Flanker Blue, all from Vellejo
15 October 2018, 19:45

And an update with some weathering, trying some green stuff to try an make it look worn
15 October 2018, 21:15

That turned out fantastic Augie! You should be very proud of 'er!!!
22 October 2018, 00:16

That's what I call...........kicking a goal big time. Sweet as ever cherrub. 🙂 🙂 👍
22 October 2018, 03:01

🙂 Thanks guys, wouldnt call this one quick, it was in the scrap pile for a year
22 October 2018, 09:02

Thanks Timothy, yeah accident with canopy caused it being in there
Thanks Katya 🙂 other than the base blue, the grey and dark blue were brush painted
22 October 2018, 14:48

This is such a great result Augie. I will not be at all surprised if you don't end up with typist's cramp from thanking all of us for our appreciation of your artistic abilities. 🙂 🙂 🙂 👍 hehehehe
28 October 2018, 14:03

That will be my next one after the MH-53E. It got a base coat of paint today, Some minor touchup's then on to Decals and weathering.
30 October 2018, 21:33

Thanks Martin, this one seems very popular.
Clifford, the pit was a resin one which the seller had added to the kit for me. I think it was the neo one
scalemates.com/kits/243323-neomega-cocpit-su-27
30 October 2018, 21:38

Thanks, I was looking at that one last night, think I will give it a go. I got the NeOmega resin pit for my Viggen. They also make them for my SU-30MK.
30 October 2018, 21:42

Its a really nice pit, if you wanna go to excess with out single hair brushes, airwaves do some instrument decals.
30 October 2018, 22:30

P,S. I ordered 2 of the pits, one for my SU-27 and one for my J-11, which is nothing but a Chinese SU-27.
1 November 2018, 03:25

Lol 🙂 they are nice, didnt have to fettle at all, just slotted in.
1 November 2018, 09:55

Yea Vitor, how have you been, long time no see. @ Augie I bought another cockpit and the Acadmey SU-27 Flanker B Limited edition kit off E-Bay. I got the works for 19.00 US. Blew me away. Now I am up to my eyeballs in Russian airplanes. LOL.
3 November 2018, 16:25

Lol see clifford, once you start😉
Es-Haq, thank you m'amigo 🙂 I'll have to see about getting some of your pre-flight tags.
4 November 2018, 00:24

Hello Augie! I just returned from an extended "vacation" in the hinterlands. So I thought I would check-in and see what all my Mates are up to. Wow! Nice work on the Su27. Just beautiful! I hope to see it on one of the tables at an IPMS national show or other high level model show and eventually in a display case at Duxford or other museum. Just stunning work! R/ Dutch
6 November 2018, 14:12

Hey dutch 🙂 thanks tho i think you may be going too far with it being ipms or display at meseum quality lol
6 November 2018, 15:12

Ten AAMs; I'd say she's loaded for Bear! Oops, it's a Russian jet. So maybe she's loaded for Walrus?
6 November 2018, 15:34

I still thank god every day for you to live on a small island Holly, otherwise there wouldn't be any girls left for us, poor fellow modellers, on the continent!😉
16 November 2018, 08:35

Augie has been treated as a lady should from day one that I know of. Love it. 🙂 RESPECT. ! 😉
17 November 2018, 00:35

HuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuG. 😉
