I scratched the pieces which left from the second hand kit. Work in progress.

The linking of the leds and a resistor was made. Draw lines (+, -) to the legs. The two blue lights will illuminate engine exhausts and white in front of the pilot and hatch of the boarding stair from below. The wires were tapeworn so as not to block interior the flaps of the blades. At the electric piece it is now possible to couple two brass bushings (+, -) between the central pair of wheels respectively, and to make a wooden base with the battery from below both electrodes +, - which will look like stops. As soon as they come in contact, the lights will turn on the leds. All the insulations have ended ... there is no fire

Esci Tu-22 - always wanted to have one, but those movable wings are outstanding! 👍

Nikolaos that looks really cool! You will have to ensure that all your seams are tight, so no light leaks out, but I really like the effect. Did the brass reinforcement strip for the wing sweep come with the kit, or is that your own invention? Another great idea!

You have right Dutch for the light which leaks out but I have nt put yet the tail system, the exausts and I have nt tight the seams. The brass (T) for the wing sweep was nt included in that second hand kit so I designed it from the plastic prototype of kit of Esci, calculating the scale from the photo and I put plastic axis looking the prototype. The system which tight the brass is my own invention and works as a movement driver.

It's always fascinating to see how different every modeler's approach to this hobby is and yet every of them is quite fascinating and unique by itself.

That's a good point Alexander (does your 'G' stand for "the Great"?😉 )
15 February 2018, 11:37

Hehe Łukasz, you are not the first one who asks me this question😄
15 February 2018, 18:42

I put the brass poles (+ -) to the wheels . The wheel scratch system clicked good.
22 February 2018, 18:04

I put all the brass pieces and the scratchbuild glass windows (cockpit)
27 February 2018, 17:44

The externals pylons (not included) made by balsa calculating the scale from the prototype sprue of Esci. The antennas' by plastic pieces and the pitot by plastic small pieces of socks clip!!!

Nice work, Nikolaos! So, are you a modeler or a recycler? I admire your ability to create a truly multi-medie kit. LOL! You are brave to tackle this beast with so many missing parts, I would have given up. I admire your pluck and ingenuity.

Thank you Dutch for your encourangement. It's a pitty such a big and old model to go lost so I put my mind solving the problemw to find resolutions for renaissance. Good day.

I painted the upper side with light compass ghost grey. This colour gives a good result because is very friendly to brushpaint and to the brass pieces which dont need prepaint acrylic varnish. The cockpit is ready with pieces of brass

I put the decals Dutch. I 'll try a little wash and then I 'll make the terrain with the battery which turn on-off the lights

Τhis big aircraft has no armament on pylons (except of Kh-22 missile down of fuselage) so it looks naked of armament. I decided to transform a Kormoran missile to a Brahmos antiship missile and I 'll put some bombs to the other pylon. You say to me the Brahmos is newest edition missile. Ok I 'll answer "What if" .(I had nt other missile)
7 March 2018, 11:38

Changed the exaust colour with burned metal (my synthesis silver pearl, yellow, red, black and light blue)
7 March 2018, 21:45

Well donde, Nikolaos. Congratulations!
In pic 70, the Blinder is from Italeri/Esci or from Modelsvit? Thanks!
8 March 2018, 20:01

From Esci Cuajete. There is on my wall if you want more pictures
8 March 2018, 20:46

Second step, the phase 2 with the wooden base and the lights on-off
13 March 2018, 15:15

Nikolaos, that is outstanding work! I like the lights and the Brahmos missiles! I need to do that again to one of my kits. I did a Monogram 1/48 Voodoo using an article in FSM years (30) ago. Excellent painting, masking and markings. Good job! R/ Dutch
