Building a diorama of an M3A5 Lee disembarking from an LST on a beach. I tried a few other methods before I went to 3D printing and plaster casting it, but here we are a spool of PLA later.

I had this in mind when I wanted to build my Sherman Crab dio, but never even tried to think of how to build it. I'll keep it to the 1/350 version... It looks fantastic!

Got most of the body built out, now I just need to figure out how to paint it so that it looks in scale. Also got a Resin 3D printer and the first print was that anchor.

Another Fabulous Zach Masterpiece in the works ! *Giddy with anticipation* !

Thanks Chaz. I'm just going to build the back part, right now I'm trying to figure out how to treat the rear of the gangway looking back, like should it go to black, or some kind of image with fake perspective? I don't know. Also built out a Bofors 40mm, which I thing is a plausible gun to be on this ship.

I once saw a dio that had some kind of hologram as a background.

No idea how you do that, but it would show the right image from every perspective.

does anyone know what the thing circled in red is? imgur.com/a/bZ4eO6o

Apparently ropes were knotted that way: [img1] ( from the New Vanguard LST book)

Got all of the components to between 50-75% done. Starting figures and the base. Patience Patience Patience.

That's a big project!
If the ladder is not yet definitively fixed, then have a look at this image :
garycosbyjr.photoshe..age/I0000YsA6KZ6cfLU
It has been taken on board the LST-325 museum ship.
I think that the ladder is parallel to the forward edge of the door, rather nearer to that edge. The plane of the ladder is such that it is perpendicular to the ship axis when the doors are shut. The ladders are to be accessed when the door are shut, through a hatch in the forward 40mm station.

good catch! I just stuck the ladder on with some blue tack so I can move it around and get it right.

I have had a heck of a time trying to paint this to look the way I want it to - this is the third version, one that I am finally not unsatisfied with.

still working on this - i'm pasuing to rebuild my workspace (yay!), but I have to correct the errors with the resin and rework the base frame. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Very Nice, Hard to believe the Ship is scratch built. The resin water is just perfect. What's up next?

Thanks gents - first I am going to finish this guy, then I am going to do a straight out-of-box t-90 build to cleanse my palette, then I have another big project I've been working towards.
