The finished assembly- only a few parts but a lot of sanding😏
10 November 2021, 21:45

Fantastic work, Simon (what else could be expected 😉 ) I know these kits very well as I assembled both training versions (i.e. single and tandem seat), and they are quite demanding...
11 November 2021, 11:58

demanding...you say it robert!
this was my first brengun kit and didn't know what to expect
a quick built was planned, however, it was a little more!
after sanding it was necessary to rescribe the panellines- I'm already curious what it looks like after the primer
this are the reason why i normally prefer vehicles... 😉
11 November 2021, 16:27

For the same reason sometimes I take some AFV on my bench as rarely, if ever, there are complex surfaces to deal with... But planes are aesthetically more appealing to me still... 🙂
11 November 2021, 17:01

I don't really know if i like how the pre-shading tuns out🤔
I imagined it to be a little different but soon we will see how it works.....
Ps. Nice that you're in whitglint!
12 November 2021, 11:50

Thank you marius, whiteglint and daniel!
Your words give me a lot of motivation😃
Now i have to think about the scene, how i'd like to present the whole thing, so it's not finished yet....
16 November 2021, 05:12

Great work! Seems to explode at any moment. All those scratches and heavy contrasts bring out a very dense 'last-ditch-ness', to me at least. Just thinking, it could be mind-blowingly cool in an A2A dio being dropped by an IJA bomber against... maybe an Essex class in 2000nd.
16 November 2021, 05:29

Nice and clean. It is obvious that you are skilled in painting.
My personal feeling is that on this particular model there should be less shading because Ohka was a suicide machine so there was no chance to dirt it, there should me minimum of some scratches, oil stains etc.
And it is my recomendation for everybody - pre/post-shading looks very good but let´s keep it realistic.
16 November 2021, 07:27

All has been already told above, so I can only say: fantastic! Congrats, Simon!
16 November 2021, 08:29

realism, according to who?
besides it's a scale model, unless a commission build made for the specs of the customer it's nothing but for the builders own enjoyment. if Simon chose to he could very well paint it purple and be fine with it...
criticizing the application of a technique is one thing, but basing it in terms of realism/realistic appearance is something entirely else.
16 November 2021, 08:31

I agree Murad. If Simon would have want the model purple it would be ok. But it is not purple, it is in color of original machime. If you are doing purple planes than it is a toy, not a scale model. There is simle theorem - have a look on real plane from 72m distance, or imagane it - what defects or shading you will see? Non. And this is realism according to reality. I know that without any shading or defects the model could be boring so we are doing it. All I´m saying is that in some cases the less the better. But again - it is my personal feeling and my point of view. There is a defference between criticism and constructive criticism - it is not bad but next time you coould try it in other way, then compare the results and you´ll see...

At first: thanks to all and your comments!
@max: i've got the same idea! That would tell the story of this bird exactly but i've got the trolley and some ground personal in stock, therefore she will stay on the ground!
@jiri: i know what you mean. I also remind that could be some scratches to much for a once used plane.
I find online some pics which shows it on transport through the jungle- so these could be transport damage.
Further i normally build afv's, so i used a style that's mostly not used for planes.
@murad: i'm close to you!
Allowed is what you like, i think!
In my opinion i want to create interesting surfaces and optics.
I'm not always use the exact colors, but i try getting close to them.
Our hobby is just a kind of art, so we've all possibilities!
@jd and robert: thanks for your nice words!
16 November 2021, 09:08

Thanks for your comments james and max!
It's always a good feeling when a project is finished🥳
26 November 2021, 17:16

I'm very enthusiastic about your words mates!
Thanx w.g., robert, jan and cuajete!
And thanks to all who liked my work😄
27 November 2021, 08:31

Thank you mates! It's nice to read your comments!
I'm glad that you like it🙂
27 November 2021, 23:17

Thank you jiri!
Just a simple groundwork but quite close to my reference pics.
The base is made of cardboard roll covered with thin wood sheet and tinted with acrylic washes, the decal is self printed on white decal sheet.

Lets do a caption contest.....I vote for "I thought YOU were going to fly this thing....I got a date."
2 December 2021, 06:16

😂you say it lochsa, this has certainly been discussed many times!
2 December 2021, 15:46

Man I have to tell you the Chinese characters around the Japanese sun flag were all laterally reversed.
But it's alright cuz they lost the war anyways.
26 January 2022, 12:06

oh man, i knew i can't trust google😂
somehow I already thought so!
anyway thanks for bringing this to my attention.
the next time i do something like this i have to get the advice of a native speaker😄
26 January 2022, 12:13

Thank you so much that you like it and thanks for your feedback!
26 January 2022, 12:19

@chan li& spanjaard: take a look at pic 22!
maybe it's better now😁
@vincent: thank you mate!
26 January 2022, 16:18

It makes a lot more sense now!
Reading the words I can tell this flag is right about suicide attack pilots.
The handwriting was fairly good, they must be well educated at that time.
26 January 2022, 16:38

good to know that it wasnt completely wrong!
thank you for your translation, if I ever need a Chinese translation for my work, I can hopefully contact you 😄
26 January 2022, 17:17

That's the tricky thing with Asian characters 😉
Still, awesome build and dio. And it's soooo tiny 😮
27 January 2022, 08:31

Thanks lukasz!
it is always difficult to work with a language that you can neither speak nor read😅
but i still satisfied with my first airplane theme

Album info
I was hoping for a quick build so that I can start painting, but was disappointed.
A lot of filling and sanding was necessary.
And then I had to re-engrave all the panel lines.
Some details also had to be created by yourself.
The PE set for the cockpit is very advisable.
The figure is offered by CMK, table and sword are scratch.
