This kit represents a Slovak, former CSSR MF. The airframe in question was built in Moscow but the kit parts have one major flaw: the panel with the rounded sides on the top of the wings is not represented. The Profpack edition contains an etched template to scribe this panel, but this WE pack doesn't.
Strangely, the instructions and the painting guide do show this panel!
Also: the cockpit instrument panel is a later type as used in MiG-21BIS and late MF's built in Gorkiy.
Conclusion: this kit builds into a late Gorkiy built MF
Slovakia never had this type of MF.
There are two possibilities to get an accurate airframe:
- Build OOB without the panels; this will make a fine Gorkiy machine. There are AM decals available. Of consider this kit a sort of 'overtrees' for Eduard decals.
- Scribe the panels and replace the cockpit interior with AM parts..
Remark: I am ignoring some very minor hull details which should also be changed when building a Moscow machine. These will hardly be visible...
