Thanks Rui. Quite happy with how it turned out.
How I wish there was a kit for the Rocket Fighter from that show. I tried building one myself but I guess I wasn't reay back then. I wish to try myself again at some point.
But there are so many others things to do, I do not know if I will even try it again.

Mark: I have a few more MG in my stash, not sure which one I will build next. I do plan to work on a red Pixy Gundam at some point for which I will use a conversion kit for the MG RX-79[ G] Ground Gundam. It's a resin cast conversion kit so I am still a bit hesitant, because I am not sure what awaits me.

Gotta take the plunge at some point, I guess.

Thank you Ben. It was printed in clear resin. I mainly used Tamiya Acrylics: Clear Blue and Clear Green. I don't remember the whole process but where the water is supposed to look deeper I used many layers of paint.

Where the water splashes around her I used fewer layers of Clear Blue. After that I added some layers of Clear Green here and there to give it some variety.

Some older photos. I worked on a little base for this mech. Like with many I did not glue the model onto the base. I feel I am still very much learning and often I am not that happy with the final result of the base. Like with this one or the one for the Shamrock tank. So I might swap this one out next year.

The game for this setting releases soon and I hope I can get some good references for new dioramas while I play it.
I saw red and blue brushes so I can surely try some outlandish things.

I am quite chuffed with her eyes. Not perfect at all but they were a little better compared to Violet's. Little steps of improvement.

I started with carefully outlining the position of the iris with a soft pencil to set the direction she is supposed to look.
Zhu Yuan's eyes have multiple colours, red, orange and yellow, which I applied one after the other. After outlining her irises, I used a fine brush and filled the area with orange and waited for it to dry.

As next step I painted the upper area in black and then the lower one with yellow. Letting it dry after each step. Once that was done I applied a bit more of black to paint her pupils.
Last step was the dot of white to give her eyes artificial reflection, like you see in anime and manga characters. Leaving it "dull" without these dots of white would indicate that she is blind.

Once everything was dried I applied Greenstuffworld Decoupage Medium Gloss, to enhance the reflection.
It is a bit messy and still far from what I aspire to do, my brush control is not so good yet but I think I slowly improve. It looks good enough if you don't get too close.

Just as random remark: I tried glazing skin tones in the past as well but I think for these anime figures it is not really necessary, in my opinion.
Usually with these figures, also due to them being rather stylized, there is no big need to work intricate preshading. The faces lack details that normal faces would have.
It is much quicker to simply airbrush them. without too much shading.
With my first figures I often just used a white base coat and then applied a light skin tone on top. Now I apply white, then Vallejo basic skin tone and then followed by a several coats white skin tone until I think I am close enough.
I am still learning and experimenting.
However, I will try to work a bit more with artificial shadows on the clothes of characters. It's easier for me to work with pre-shading on vehicles than on figures yet.

What still is an issue for me is to give the lips of characters a bit more of a reddish tone. I mighte have to work this in my process. Maybe after I applied the basic flesh colour and before I add the light skin tones on top. Like some kind of preshading in a specific area.
I should print a batch of heads and try out some things, also do more research.

I already managed to paint quite a bit. While of course I wish I was already better at brush painting I don't want to wait with every project until I am. Gotta work on it. I will upload some images for this project soon.

Currently I try to learn how to do glazing, sometimes it workes out fine, sometimes it does not. Getting the ratio of paint:glaze medium right, as well as the right application, to not use too much paint and drown the details. Airbrushing is easier but I don't want to spend hours masking so I gotta learn how to handle the brush.
Especially white is a tough nut, it needs a lot more layers, which I kind of expected. But I hope that in the end she will turn out fine.

Lately I've been working on so many 3d printed figures that I kind of yearn for some good old plastic model kits again.

Thanks a lot mates! This little but simple diorama was a real experiment with the lava but I am quite happy with how it turned out.
I applied Tamiya Flat Red, Red, Orange and Yellow with a brush and then sprayed flat red onto the base to give it the look as if the Lava illuminates the surrounding area.
This is something I probably could have done on the Raven as well but I was a bit scared to screw the Mech up but even without that lighting it doesn't really look out of place, I think.

The Raven is one of my favourites as well but the Bushwacker is still number 1 for me. I built one in the past and might print a new one this year.
I ordered a bunch of ABS like resin which should make it possible to articulate the mechs like action figures. But what's more important it should stop breaking when I try to assemble the models. The UV Resin I used until now can be very brittle and is better used for static figures.

I might add a few little details to the Raven's base and will shoot additional photos in front of the background later. I ordered some spiky red brushes that might look nice on the base.

It's a 3d printed Claptrap from the Borderlands games. I noticed I didn't upload the newest pictures, because I added a bit of wash to the skull. Will upload a few more some time later. Once I managed to wrap up a number of projects I will do a bit of a "photo session" with several models in front of the black background.

For this figure of Black Swan, I am going to use the airbrush for a lot of painting steps, as her clothes and even her hair work with a lot of gradients.
Gradients seem so easy in theory but I guess I'll need a while to do the process right.

Now with other paint applied her skin tone doesn't seem right anymore, and I need to lighten it up again. Probably after I am done airbrushing. Layers of careful glazing should hopefully do the trick.

Welcome Capt! Continued with detail painting here. Still more to do, for example her eyes are not painted yet but I am getting somewhere.
I'll definitely have to attach the base she's sitting on to another wooden base to make sure it can't fall over.

Thanks a lot mates! Not much happened here lately as I try to finish the base. Then it's pretty much done. The chipping on the markings of the parking lot is quite heavy so I want to make it look a little nicer with some flowers. 🙂
