Hi Pietro, the Zimmerit was Tamiya epoxy putty rolled out using a damp metal roller until it was very thin and then applied to the surface with the help of a damp cocktail stick. I then left it to dry for 30 minutes, or so and then used a Zimmerit roller and press (Trumpeter). The 'secret' is to make the putty layer as thin, and consistent, as possible.
