Dirk. for it's size, this is one of the nicest kits of the Zero around, and by the looks, judging by the work on your motor, it will be a nice build. 🙂
Looking forward to more results. 👍
Cheers. 😉

Thanks Kerry and Clifford! A friend of mine gave me 'The Great Book of World War II Airplanes' that he bought for $2 at his local library (used book sale). It contains a goldmine of information on 12 of the most iconic war planes of that era, including the Zero. It includes illustrations by Rikyu Watanabee that will be extremely helpful on this build.

I used Old Holland oil paint (2 part Mars Black, 1 part Burnt Umber and odorless thinner) for the wash over silver paint from a rattle can. I really like Old Holland oils because they are loaded with pigment. A little pricey but definitely worth it.

Detailed the engine some more and applied another wash. Sprayed the cockpit with my own mix of oil paint over a base coat of silver.

Is there much in the way of images available on the interior of the cockpit for you in the book you have. ?
If not, here is a link for you that may be of interest. 🙂
Looking good so far. 🙂 👍

I think the engine is done in my estimation but I appreciate any comments or feedback (I think the wiring is probably too big). This is my first model in many many years and compared to other projects posted on this excellent website I've got a ways to go in my modeling skills.
