Thanks😉
Yes Pierre, i often use the technique of trompe l'oeil to paint the cockpit...
26 April 2018, 20:06

Hello Ronan! Can you explain this technique? I don´t know what you mean...
27 April 2018, 06:12

Agreed, it works often visually better than actual drilling/detailing at this scale.
27 April 2018, 07:46

@Harry : trompe l'oeil technique concist in painting details instead of reproduce it by plasticard or wire.
I'm currently painting the details in the landing gear housing with lots of wire ( see the next picture). Everything is painted by hand.

Thats very effective Ronan. The shadow effect really helps to add relief. You must have a very steady hand and a very tiny brush!!

Du trompe-l'œil!? Hmm......i will test this technique now on my B-25 project. I hope it works on a bigger scale as well. ( 1/48 )

@KUrt : trompe l'oeil technique works in every scale, it depend your skill😉

trompe l'oeil technique - never thought of using it on plastic models! it is often used in cardboard modelling. very nice effect! i will give it a try next time!

Photo 10 reminds me of when Wile E Coyote paints a tunnel onto a rockface!

Nicely applied camo... think this is also the most interesting camo applied to this bird...
4 June 2018, 08:21

Thanks😉 Yes interesting camo but the Akan paint is very hard to apply ... 🙁
4 June 2018, 09:48

Seems you are the first one to complain. Can you explain how you worked?
4 June 2018, 10:02

First : primer Gunze
Second : Akan paint with Tamiya thinner
Third : satin varnish
Result : The slightest contact with the painting makes her jump. When I remove the scotch the paint goes away. I've tried with or without thinner, same thing . I 've never seen that before whatever the paint. i will never buy Akan in the future.

Merci Laurent, ça n'avance pas très vite à cause du jardin et autres bricoles dans la maison, mais bientôt je vais m'y remettre
18 June 2018, 20:27

too bad about the woes with paint, still looking stunning despite the problems.

Exceptional! Your cockpit detail painting is next-level. Sadly, the '34 doesn't have an easy cockpit to show.

Great looking Sukhoi, Ronan! The Su-34is such a cool looking machine!
3 July 2018, 10:03

Looks grand! Lovely cockpit! I'd never suspect the painting problems unless you mentioned them 👍
8 July 2018, 17:25

Thanks gents, I'm glad I finished this model because I was tired of this f.... painting 🙂
8 July 2018, 21:09

Absolutely beautiful Ronan! I am most impressed with the cockpit and paintwork. Nice touch adding the curtains!
9 July 2018, 04:34

Amazing work! Beautifull! Can you elaborate on the creation of the base? I need some inspiration. hehe
9 July 2018, 12:46

@Augusto : the base is a vulgar A4 photo frame on which I glued a cardboard rectangle cut out of a calendar, and then I painted the calendar piece and glued some grass 🙂
9 July 2018, 17:01

Wow, really great work, superb cockpit & paintjob! I'm just working on one in 48-scale, difficult enough, but what you do in 1:72 is just amazing!
