Many thanks Cuajete
The kit is not high quality but it's good in shape. A lot of things have to be improved or created
9 January 2022, 11:12

You are right, the shape of the Heller Transall is very consistent, especially with the cockpit windows you have installed. I am curious how it will go on.
Follow this.

I will go for a weathered grey scheme, as the aircraft Wear today.
9 January 2022, 19:58

Ok, sounds interesting. How is it, as I known, the Heller-kit hasn't the new black props. Do you need some? I would have some from the Revell-kit.
10 January 2022, 05:50

Thanks Michael, but i will use the heller ones ( metal blades) because the C160G spent most of his life with metal propellers . The composite blades were used in the last two years because there was no longer metal ones.
10 January 2022, 12:38

Oh man, that's gonna be a beauty. What are these underbelly contraptions?
10 January 2022, 14:47

Many thanks, mates 😉
@Hajo : my friend bought the heller kit, the final model is for him. I don't want to spent a year to build the model. I only pay attention to the outside details.
i have the revell kit too and i don't like the heavy engraving panel lines on the fuselage, and the heller sigint aerials don't fit very well on the revell
So, if you want to go for a Gabriel, you should choice the heller one
10 January 2022, 18:15

@underbelly contraptions : these are two SIGINT radomes in the retracted position

18 January 2022, 19:13

Looking forward to seeing the paintjob - I'd break off all these aerials in the spraybooth for sure 😉
25 January 2022, 08:17

doucement mais TOP TOP !!! sympa la peinture
12 February 2022, 19:56

I repeat myself, but the painting on the fuselage is GREAT. 👍
Is this tonal variation also done by preshading (like we see it on the wing pic)? or whats the secret behind this?
15 February 2022, 16:29

There is no secret Juergen 😉
On the wings, i tried to do a preshading but i was not really satisfied .
On the airframe , i've used several shades of grey to have the same result :
first : neutral grey, then RLM65 blue grey and H308 on upper surfaces.
The dark grey touch up are done with H305 dark blue grey
15 February 2022, 17:34

With each pic I am more and more impressed. I definitely agree with Juergen on the quality of the paint job. Looking forward for more.
15 February 2022, 19:13

Whoaaaaaaaaa!!!!! 👍
And double Whoaaaaa becaus it is the Heller kit 🙂
15 February 2022, 21:42

Master painter at work, it's a pleasure to watch it come together.
15 February 2022, 22:13

You Ronan, are the reason for my poor mojo 🙂
Great job on Transall 👍, the details are out of this world...
16 February 2022, 09:54

16 February 2022, 11:18

Your models never cease to amaze me! Beautiful work as always 😀👍👍
16 February 2022, 13:02

Many thanks, mates
16 February 2022, 13:04

Looks great, Ronan! I really like the weathered and faded paint.
17 February 2022, 17:52

one of those builds that impress more with every pic you publish. jawdropping.
18 February 2022, 10:26

Many thanks, mates 👍
@ Bernhard : if one day you come in France, you're welcome at my home 😉
28 July 2022, 17:41

28 July 2022, 21:10

Nice.
Q: What is the explanation for the smooth paintwork? No primer layer? Laquers? Sanding the primer layer?
29 July 2022, 08:59

Total respect!
30 July 2022, 09:04

@Treehugger:
The paint job is not easy toi explain because i do it without thinking, and sometimes I don't know how I did it when someone asks me.
The first step : a layer of grey
Then : highlight the upper surfaces with a light grey or white.
Then : a light overspray of blue to give a blueish Shade to the gray.
To give a worn effect : some diluted white here and there, and some diluted black on the panel lines.
And you finish with some touch UP of dark grey as we do during the aircraft checks.
That's it 🙂
