I was REALLY happy with the wave effect. I attempted it with some trepidation, resigned to painting it over if I didn't like it. Needless to say, I was ECSTATIC with the result! I think it captures the look from the show perfectly. It also sets mine apart from many of the ones I've seen on Facebook, and nicely breaks the monotony of a large expanse of grey n the display case. While it looks fairly simple, it's actually done with five passes of my airbrush, using varrious shades of grey, from pure white to a dark grey, and then I misted a coat of the base colour to tone it down a bit. I used Tamiya lacquers (White, LP-37 Light Ghost Grey, LP-36 Dark Ghost Grey, LP-14 Dark Grey) in various combinations. The two base colours were LP-36 for the top and LP-37 for the bottom.

The pattern appears random enough to give an effect of fluidity. These are exceptional results from a very skilled hand.

Wow, that pain job is amazing! Love the effect. Did you leave the bow windows out? I haven't built mine yet but concerned the clear parts would hide all the details in the bridge. Great job!

@Intrescue Thankyou! Yes, I deliberately left out the bow windows so you can better see the interior without distortion.

The paint scheme on the larger of the two submarines is phenomenal.
