I built the seatbelts with masking tape and copper wire from the inside of a electric cable.

I totally agree with the above! Really an impressive detailing!

Thanks for all the kind words. I was very happy with the belts, so I will take them 🙂
I hope I get the rest of the interior detailing right.

I'm really impressed by your perseverance and your scratch skills!

Thanks Moreno, I enjoy the more challenging cheaper kits. I have spent too much money on fancy kits that went to the bin😁

All your care with the painting is paying dividends 👍 Really liking the subtleties 👍

This is the "Wehrmacht Luftwaffe" scheme with the two tone camoflage.

Looks fantastic already - I would never have thought that this kit could be turned into such a beautiful model...

Are you going to use Plastyk decals? If so, bare in mind they're usually very thick and stiff - you have been warned 😋
7 March 2023, 08:57

Thanks Łukasz, yes, I am building out of the box and did the decals last night. They were thick, and I had to cut around the decal outlines because the clear was one big rectangle. I will show the result soon.

Concerning the weathering: I think you got a good finish, maybe, but just maybe, you got a little too far. But depends:I personally think that a real aircraft was not so clean, so for me it's ok!
9 March 2023, 07:32

I thinks it looks good. The dirt is more visible on the undersides and Storks were used everywhere, on the frontlines too 🙂
9 March 2023, 09:23

Thanks Łukasz, it didn't look too good from close. Everything turned to a grey dirty mess, so I tried it differently in the other wing. Better already, but not great yet. It is good enough for the 3.60 Euro Storch!

I wish it was worth E36.00 😂
It has gone up to E4.19 on Super-Hobby 👍

The canopy turned out rather disasterously 😩
I think it is a combination of a few things, including me not noticing the gooey mess the inner masking was leaving. I was also trying acrylics for the first time, and the Vallejo primer seems not to stick to clear parts very well, which caused the paint to come away when the mask was pulled off.
Anyway, some valuable lessons learnt cheaply. I have very few complaints about the Plastyk kit. I am very impressed at what it has for the price.
This is the end for me and this Storch though. Maybe a window sill for a while and then a slow migration to the bin...

Looks good, you might want to add some future or gauzy agent (or anything similar) to the canopy, but I assume the transparent Plastyk parts are not really transparent anyway 🙂
Pun intended - Plastyk is plastic in Polish 😉
14 March 2023, 09:23

The "Plastyk" 🙂 canopy is actually fine. I tried to get too fancy too soon and masked the inside of the canopy. These masks left a lot of mess in the inside, which I didn't spot because the outside was also masked! I will put a close up in the photos
The only fix is to take the canopy apart, which is pretty terminal for the Storch construction🙀
I am happy with the lessons, if not the result. Onto the next cheapie in my stash!!
14 March 2023, 09:41

What sort of mess is it? Just dirt or glue residue?
In case of the former, try to inject some water inside, shake a lot and leave to dry 🙂
That's what I do sometimes 🙂
14 March 2023, 10:03

Thanks Łukasz, it is definitely not just dirt.
I think some tackiness remained from the back of of the interior masking tape.
I think then that, during airbrushing, some spray entered (probably the nose and / or loosely fitted side door), and got attracted to the stickiness.
It is definitely something that won't come off easily.
I think I will order another Storch with my next supplies and do a better job.

Dear Michael, I totally agree with the above: a super result despite the "mess" on the canopy. Don't send it to the bin!

Here are some "glamour" shots:

I started this one while finishing the little Fokker.
I am building a series of 1/72 budget model to practice and build some skills. Also for the fun if it if course, without breaking the bank.
