Started modeling as a young kid (6 or 7 years old) took a break when I got married and we had young children. Restarted the hobby when my children were old enough to built with me and have increased my modeling activity over the last 8 to 10 years. My primary interest aircraft, especially WWII, Cold War Era and Vietnam War.
I’ve worked in aerospace manufacturing almost my entire career. I spent the early years as a Quality Field Engineer for McDonnell Douglas. I decided to leave after we were bought by Boeing. The last 20 years I’ve worked for a couple of smaller companies that provide structural components and assemblies for Lockheed, Boeing, Northrop, Gulfstream and most other OEM’s. I spent 25 years in Engineering or Quality, primarily in management, I then moved to Sales and Marketing for about 7 years and now I manage the quoting / cost estimating group.
My very patient wife of 43 years gave me a large room for my model room/man cave. I finally have most of the tools, supplies and accessories for modeling I’ve always wanted. I’m busy trying to get grandkids to to develop an interest in the hobby????
I’m very interested in learning how to better display my aircraft in dioramas and/or period appropriate display bases (carrier deck, marsten matting, unimproved fields, etc.
