This is the very unusual Spitfire HF Mk VI, the long winged high altitude Spitfire, which I’ve built in the colours of P/O C. B. Brown, based with 616 Squadron, RAF Kingscliffe, 12 miles west of Peterborough, in May 1942.
For me, the HF Mk. VI is the worse looking Spitfire ever to fly, and thus it is fitting that is has been, I feel, my my worse build and from the possibly the worse kit I’ve bought! On reflection I made 3 mistakes … 1. trying to hand paint acrylics in a heatwave, 2. not researching a better kit that would meet my ‘quickie build’ criteria and 3. actually buying the kit in the first place!
