Hi, I'm Nick, retired now and doing what I want (when my beautiful wife lets me lol!!). I was in the Royal Navy for 10 years, leaving as a Leading Radio Operator(G), before joining the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. I retired medically as a Third Officer (Comms) after some 27 years service.

I love building models but I'm a really slow builder! I also really enjoy researching my kits and this, coupled with a love of reading, started my love of reading history when I was a boy, including a lot of military history over the years. I also love reading novels and have taken agreat liking to novels set during the Roman Empire period, especially the books of Simon Scarrow, S.J.A. Turney, Robert Fabbri and Adrian Goldsworthy although there are also plenty of others. Major bugbear with kits - not enough 1/72 Royal Navy MT & MGBs, not enough 1/350 RN ships (especially frigates and destroyers from WW1 onwards), and no RFA ships. Oh, and how about a decent 1/350 HMS Iron Duke 1916? Now I'm just ranting!!
