Figures are fun, but eh in 1:350 in particular, it seems super expensive.

Spanjaard, actually, all of those figures, including truck finished in garbage. I started project all over, it's almost done... I will post some pictures as a teaser right now...

Good job! Can't even imagine how much time & effort spent on these figures... In my opinion they are much more time consuming than painting & weathering a vehicle!

Excellent project. I was always toying with something similar, not sure I have your perseverance to finish it 😭

Thank you all for comments. This is hardest and longest project I ever worked on. I think only one of all of this figures is as it came from the factory. So, lots of frankensteining, labotomies to make heads with caps. Overall, there is more then 400 decals. Most of figures are resin, many of them really hard to find. Total cost of this stupid idea of mine is more then 700 euro... Just don't tell that to my wife.

So many figures and each painted slightly different in high quality. Awesome! 🙂

Hey, isn't that Daniel Craig in photo 8? 🙂 (Other actors are available!). A true work of patience and a fantastic result. 👍

Top work here! Quantity and quality of figure painting are outstanding. I like the individual facial expressions and eyes you achieved here. Notwithstanding vehicle and terrain are also first rate. So this diorama seems completed to me. What else is to come? And: Who´s driving the lorry?
24 February 2021, 11:17

Neuling, there is driver in there too. I will take more pictures once I am done. Still to come is few more guys on roof, hood, fenders and hanging by the door.

Bogi,
I admire you figure painting skills-Kalin too!
Well done, my friend!

Es-haq, Todd, thank you guys. Thank's Angel, I am glad you like them. Say hi to Kalin.
24 February 2021, 14:24

Gorbygould, James C, thank's... Olivier, wouldn't this be a life if somebody payed us for all the time we spend at the workbench?
24 February 2021, 17:29

Omg, the whole DAK on the move! Great job! But also a very nice truck! Love the woodwork
24 April 2021, 10:11

wow, simply fantastic.
the amount of time to detail all those figures (and the truck),.... top notch!
24 April 2021, 11:04

Wow! Incredible build. So much experience painting figures in one project. Excellent results.
24 April 2021, 12:55

I can't say enough "Thank you" to show how much I appreciate your comments guys.
24 April 2021, 16:17

Just how many figures is there if you also count the Desert Rats in the other lorry?
24 April 2021, 16:53

Between 70 and 80. Lorry is an old model, I hope to redo it next year.
24 April 2021, 17:27

I would love to see this beauty person, i am sure it is much better than in the pictures (and that is lot already!) Painting a couple of figures with that level of detail, is amazing. Painting more than 70 is beyond words.

Spanjard, this was a learning project. I needed some time to find a way to tackle the eyes. I think that they are, together with hands, most important part of the figure. Next problem was finding enough of quality DAK figures. Early on I decided that I want them all to have tunic and long pants and finding that kind of figures without strips, belts and hanging equipment is challenge of it self. Secondly, I wanted to paint every one of them in different color, which is not that visible because of my home made wash, which is equalizing colors quite a bit. Thirdly, matching all kind of legs, hands, desert boots to bodies and heads to caps was lot of work to. Plus, I never thought that truck will swallow that many figures. Not to forget waiting time for all the deliveries, which is putting you in ON OFF mode and make you burn down. So, yes, it was quite a job, but fun and challenging one, for shore.
25 April 2021, 21:20

Most important part is that I am no artist. If I can do it, anybody can. All of this figures are painted in a simple way. No primer, just paint, one wash for body and legs, one for face, then decals and flat clear at the end. No highlights, no dry brushing... And all of that done in one evening... Simple and fast.
25 April 2021, 21:47

A very nice project. The elements compliment and perfectly integrate.
28 April 2022, 04:09

Just amazing!
Respect for making so many figures and doing them in such good quality!
Really like the idea and the whole paint job👏
28 April 2022, 05:27

Impressive work. I agree with Guy and Dietmar. Aber keine gute Idee für den öffentlichen Nahverkehr (public transportation) in Deutschland 2022 .......
28 April 2022, 09:21

Wow, that is a truckload of figure painting - and not just quantity. Respect for your perseverance. Yor probably painted more figures for this project than most military modellers in their whole career. 😉
