Sweet idea because I love the old beetle and - of cause - Herbie. For my taste the frame for the sliding roof is not the best outcome. From the back an passengers side view, there is a big gap to the "metal roof". Generally, the frame is to thick for my taste. It doesn't lay smooth on the roof at all. Sorry to write those words, but it is my opinion. I think, You could do better. Especially when you are able to print the part by your own.
I think, I would have been enough, to cut out the opening and imitate the frame with a stripe of aluminum (e.g. of a tea candle).
I'm looking forward how it will come out with the roof on it.

Yeah I agree to be honest I don't have access to a 3D printer so it was done by someone on eBay who said he adjusted as he couldn't get the file to print without breaking. I think he may of made the part to big. In all honesty this was only really a test model to test print my own transfers. I did think about that just leaving it open and sticking the open part on it but when I first tried the part before glueing it didn't look to bad is seem that it may of moved up when I let it dry. I may have a go at removing it but don't think I will be able to as it was superglued into place.

Hoping for the best 🙂 Thank you for understanding of my words. For me it is on my long ToDo list, to convert a Beetle with this sliding roof. It is pretty nice and I want to have one in my shelf. Those days, I owned a 1957 with rag top. That was so sweet to drive. I never made it into a model kit.
I think - in your spot - I'd go with that as it is. Like you said, the removement will be a mess and the work afterwards can be anoying. Fingers crossed!

Bob Smith Industries makes a superglue de-bonder, Ryan. I've used it with great success. I'm sure there are other manufacturers as well. A couple of things with the Bob Smith stuff, it's very runny, almost like water, so be careful when applying. Also, it will leave a mark on painted surfaces...not a damaging, gouge type mark but more of a frosty, hazy mark. But still, if you use too much, it will require a repaint. And third...it stinks! Like dead fish stink...so, there's that. 😁
