Ian Doody AutoreThat's me done for today. Managed to get the engine in its cradle, just some wiring, piping and small details still to go. Unsure about fitting the dust skirts around the fuel tanks and engine, as it'll obscure the detail. Hmm.

Ian Doody AutoreWorking on the suspension today, very basic but does the job, decided against using the metal suspension parts, as I don't think they add anything. Added strengthening bars to the engine cage, added the suspension anti roll bar. Built and painted up one wheel and tyre for a dry fit. Looking good so far. Painted with scale75 and Vallejo acrylics, weathered with Vallejo, other watered down acrylic and ink washes. Not bad for a vintage 70s kit. Still a load of wiring and plumbing to go in the engine bay.

Ian Doody AutoreWIP, 1983 ROTJ Airfix/MPC A-Wing Light Starfighter. Getting there, still deleting details. Airfix has the crappy tinted canopy, may switch out with a scratch built one from a F-14. Guns will be all converted to brass rod and wire detailing, need two cheap Revell 1/48 F-16 air intakes for the rear hyperdrive engines, as the kit part is naff. Side Torpedo launchers will be cut out and scratch built. I've already moved the rear central bulkhead further in so it's more scale. I won't actually use the landing gear, it'll be on a stand eventually. Size comparison to the 1/72 Rogue Squadron A-Wing I built last year

Ian Doody AutoreWorking on the rear Jump engine area, these will need replacing with 1/48 F-16 air intake parts, two stacked on top of each other, and some flatter jet nozzles, like the Bandai 1/72.

Ian Doody AutoreI replaced the shocks and added the now out of print photo etch parts, it was a really nice kit to build, shame Ebbro went out of business. Colours wise, I went with what I saw in period photos, mainly from the Joe Honda books and Motorsportimages.com.
