It's all in the prep work, Peter!
I'm curious to know though, will the black, also accentuate the panel lines?
For example, the doors, hood and trunk, gaps? Or, would you tackle that later down the line? Or even just leave it as is, and let the natural light, do its magic?

Prep prep and more prep! The black under the doors and bumpers is standard as is the blackouts on the r-send and grille. I want to give this to Jon on New Years Eve so I have a deadline!

Mate, recently I've done more rubbing, than Aladdin's girlfriend!
Large resin models, and OCD, definitely don't come hand in hand!
I have to stop, put it down, and do something else, just for my own sanity?
In the UK, we used to use a black paint, on the sills, called Tetrosyl. It was bitumen based, and prevented rust. However, it had the reverse effect, and trapped water, then made your car, rust to death! Now I just use roadkill. It's not as brutal, as the Tetrosyl 😉

You would love Jon Martin. Walks his own path through life.
Bozz, keep your private life to yourself, I am too young to be corrupted by the likes of you!

I'm in to learn! What you did with the masking tape, Mig Oil and pigment marker on the air cleaner filters looks very good 👌

Thank you yngvenett The idea just came to me, after a lot of lost sleep! There are some very clever people on Scalemates who will help you.

Just finding this Peter. Love th color of Jon's car. Outstanding work on the air filters. That worked well indeed. I'll be following along now

Kyle, I am trying to replicate the colour and just cannot get the right saturation. Shade is fine, colour is fine but the best I can get is a bit dull. Never mixed my own base colour before. I have spent way too much on paint now so will have to "run wot I brung" so to speak. I'll just be wet sanding the colour paint before I 2k clear over the top. My thoughts on cars are that the finish makes or breaks the build and that most of the finish is the top of the car. Roof, bonnet and boot lid.

That photo you have used as photo 1. That definitely looks like a tough color to match!! Your paint color will pop nicely once you get it wet sanded and 2k'ed. Look forward to seeing it. Coming right along.

I love it! An old car in a terrific colour.
Totally agree with Alexander.

Alex G, thank you my friend, you have been a major influence along my learning journey!
Martin, your love of old cars and gaudy colours is well known but thank you again for you unceasing encouragement.

Truly exceptional work Peter!! A gorgeous build of a very, very cool car. This is a stunner.

Thank you Kyle! The DDA kits go together like four little mini kits that screw together at the finish. I can only encourage a car nut like your very good self to give one a go.

It's the Purple Peter, Tarmac Eater!
Awesome job, mate.
That shine wins the day though!
I enjoyed following this build.
