It's a long time ago, that I built any military stuff. But then, on last years christmas, I got this Boxer of our youngest son. You know the rule: get it as a present, it has to be built. So I started it 10 days ago. I never thought, that (in this scale!) only the chassis needs this much time, what I needed. I have to say, that I go through the instruction, like I should. Step by step. But as always, I try to build components for painting because of the camouflage theme.
So far I finished the chassis and transport box only without the little parts. This will be next.
I had some trouble with "mixing up" parts. When I started it, I thought, that I mixed them up during the process. But yesterday, when I finished the stearing and chassiparts, I put every single part onto the instructions and it's location. At the end, the parts for the stearing construction on the corners at the front (step 13 / #C18, step 15 / #C17) and tie rods (step 15 / #D24, step 18 / #D23) where reversed. I'm really sure. And on one side the tie rods didn't fit anyway because one of them had it's mounting pin upside down somehow. Maybe I'm to dumb. Very strange.
I fact, that this is new terrain for me, I pay a lot of more attention as when I build a car. So I don't understand that.... Wo cares. Everything look right now *lol*

BTW: I do not modify this kit (eg. tow hooks, lashing eyes (shackles instead of hooks)). I will build it straight out of the box. I know, there is some (a lot) improvement given, to get it as near as possible to the original. But as said: new terrain and I'll be happy with it, if the paintjob looks as wished too.
Breaking news: I will not be painting it as described in the instructions. I am aiming for a color scheme as supplied for training purposes.

All right. I'm not that dumb 😉 There are misstakes in the instructions. I double checked it with the first issue (GTK Boxer (GTFz) (Revell 03093, 1:35)) and the sgSanKfz (GTK Boxer sgSanKfz (Revell 03241, 1:35)) and both are identical. I uploaded pictures.

Try out a Dragon Kit...there are Parts completely missing and others are completely wrong in the step of building they are mentioned...that would be a real challange for you...
But stay tuned, it will build into a nice model!!

Suspensions on wheeled armoured vehicles are always a lot of work — funnily enough, tracked vehicles are often actually simpler to build, even though they have many more wheels. Soft-skins like big military trucks are even more involved, BTW: the suspension is just as complicated as on wheeled AFVs but there are a ton more parts for the chassis, drive train, etc.
