Very cool! The Frank is probably my favorite WWII IJA aircraft. Oh, very nice scheme too, unusual for the Ki-84. 👍

Thank you ! I used the 1995 Decal set from SuperScale International 1:48 48-0526 -
Nakajima Ki-84-II Hayate 47th Sentai Hq Flight & 520th Interceptor Regiment
This was one of my first aftermarket decal sets that I bought , I fell in love with the 47th Sentai Camouflage markings .
These were the clinching factor along with the 2 Kill Mark on the front fuselage - I also used on this , for the first time , the Landing Flaps etch set by Eduard .
That etch set plus the cockpit , and exterior - Very impressive upgrade of detail .
I also used an aftermarket 1/48 Fukuya Pitot brass tube. The Engine is by Vector
( I used this wonderful aftermarket resin engine , not the Kit engine )

Album info

1/48 Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate 'Frank' model, made from the Hasegawa kit with some additional details and modifications.
I wanted to find an unconventional scheme and after searching online chose a subject featured on SuperScale Decal Sheet 48-526 for an aircraft attributed to the HQ Flight of 47 Hiko Sentai at Narimasu airfield, north-east of Tokyo, Japan during early 1945.
SuperScale presented an unusual mottled scheme with explicit colour call-outs of dark green blotches over grey-green which Ifollowed directly, changing only the under surface colour to a medium grey.
I used the basic Hasegawa kit JT 67 (09067) but added 2 colour photo-etch and flap details from Eduard sets and a Fukuya brass pitot tube.
I found the Eduard pilot seat a great improvement on the kit part K5 and found that it folded easily into place. I also followed my usual practice of replacing the kit engine - part B1 - with a Vector resin replacement, in this case the Homare Ha 45. This was not a perfect fit and required some minor alterations to the cowling but I felt it well worth it in improving the appearance of the model.
