Will be watching closely. The Tamiya kit is in my stash and it will be diorama-ed with some other bits. Just gotta program some arduino to get it to target anyone who come to evaluate it🤣

My advice: Sell the Tamiya kit and buy this one to replace it 😉
The Tamiya turret isn't too bad, but they didn't even try to get the hull right. Instead of a completely different back end with a revised engine deck, they just stuck a kind of ramp on top of the M48A5 engine deck and left it at that. And, of course, all of that goes for the Academy clone too.

This seems like an intriguing concept 👍 Really looking forward to see more! Although part of me always wants to see some Merkava-based SPAA for some reson...

I had had that thought too, but for years I've wanted an M247 🙂 I might eventually build one like that, but probably only after I buy an other M247 for its hull, to put a PRTL turret onto — though even that won't be in the foreseeable future.

Love all the scratch building stuff you do Jakko. I don't know if it's a trick of the eye and photo but those track pin holes look huge compared to those of the Border Crusader III. Though fiddly enough!! If you were funding it difficult, no wonder I've been struggling!
This M247 is a beast. You've done an absolute first rate job with it. I bow to your skills and knowledge (people don't like crawlers, I'm told so I'll stop there!) 😅😅😁😂

The M247 is a real vehicle, it's just that the Israelis never used it — the only real-world user was the US Army, and even they only used it for about a year. As for size, those track links are about 16 or 17 mm wide, so much bigger than on a Crusader, yes.

What would you do with those tiny Border Crusader links? Would you just glue them?

As I haven't built that kit I can't really say, but if the pins fit poorly like here, I'd probably do it as I did on this one: a drop of gel superglue on top, after the pin is in place.

Thanks. I'm not the world's greatest figure painter by a long shot, but I'm not unhappy with how he came out 🙂
