I can understand many who left this kit unfinished. It's terrible kit. 🙂

Love it when these old kits are built, even if they are terrible. Following!

I've had a local disaster here. An audio speaker fell off the shelf onto the primed model. The impact blew the model to pieces. The wing console broke off at the wrong joint and the fuselage behind the cabin closer to the tail, also the nose part split in half. I was in a bit of shock, so I didn't take a photo. Now I have tried to restore the model, glued it back together and applied putty. But I have a question for you guys, is it worth continuing the project with this particular set or ordering a new one?

It's completely up to you... What will satisfy you more? Personally, I think I'll take more pleasure if I finished a kit / project I started, despite the disasters and adversities, than going for a better result by ordering a new kit. But, then again, I just happen to like old, simple kits, and I'm not going for a "terrific" result... As I said: It's up to you... (obviously!).

Thanks Alex for the reply. We have a saying "morning is wiser than evening" and so I slept well today, looked at the model with a fresh look, plus I read your answer and decided to finish it.

Pierre, I will finish this kit, but most likely I will buy another one later, it will be from an Art model

Troubles continue to haunt this build, now there is a problem with decals 🙂

Of the 10 (2 on the wings, 2 on the fuselage and 2 on the tail + 4 spare) decals of red stars from the I-16 kit from the "Modelist", only 4 were able to be applied (somehow), the rest fell apart in the water again, despite the varnish applied to them. To top it all off, the "Decal Set" devoured the varnish on the model. Honestly, I could barely resist smashing this I-185 with a punch. Now we need to partially paint the sides. After this build, I will need rehabilitation 🙂

Wow, you are going through the trenches with this build. At this point, with all the work you put in, I would finish it or destroy it in a spectacular fashion. I wish you the best with it!

Model Man, after everything I've done with this kit, I just have to finish it 🙂 And, finally, to do the "Barracuda", otherwise I completely abandoned it 🙂

Oh no, not another low blow. I don't think this kit likes you particularly. But I think you can beat it. Good luck.

I am sure I have some red stars I haven't used. Happy to mail them if it helps.

Nicolas, thanks for the words of support, after all, I have to cope with this "simple weekend kit" 🙂

Ben, thank you so much for the offer, but I will find the stars here on the ground, anyway I wanted to order a large decal for the I-16 produced by "Begemot". In addition, I looked at different color schemes of I-185, and it looks like there might not be stars on the sides, I tried to put them there in vain. Then I will restore the paint, apply varnish, stretch the antenna and...I REALLY hope that's ALL with this kit 🙂

It's just one thing after another. I've had experiences like that and say "I thought I was doing this for relaxation and fun!" lol. I'm sure you'll get through this too.
