Gloster Meteor build
1
March 23, 2025Cockpit and ejector seat assembled complete with Eduard PE interior and harnesses.2
March 23, 2025Ejector seat in the cockpit. Eduard instrument panel is pretty. It’s wonky though - my error.3
March 23, 2025Those seat belts are nice even if they’re fiddly. Nice colours.4
March 23, 2025Eduard PE is pretty but very fiddly!5
March 23, 2025Wings started, wheel casings painted and installed. Most enjoyable. Trying out a gloss black undercoat - will need to be sanded down.6
March 23, 2025Clamps to make sure it sticks together. Game changer.7
March 23, 2025And clamps on the fuselage. Excellent. Didn’t put weight in the nose because I an amateur idiot.8
March 23, 2025Test fit of fuselage and wings, which snapped together with an air of finality. We’ll see if this was a mistake!9
March 25, 2025Fuselage and wings successfully glued together. I’ve built and painted the engines too, which was fun.
10
March 25, 2025Engine, intake and piping all successfully fitted after a bit of fiddling.11
March 25, 2025Those engines in close up. This really is a fun kit to build, a bit gappy in places but planes often are. Tons of nice detail to play with.12
March 26, 2025Masking the top bits before doing a gloss black undercoat.13
March 26, 2025Wheels masked with the Eduard kit.14
March 26, 2025Bottom bits masked before under coating.15
March 26, 2025An essential accessory to the modelling process.16
March 26, 2025I’ve sprayed a fairly thin layer of Vallejo gloss black primer over the top half of the Meteor.17
March 26, 2025The gloss primer will be curing for a while before I start spraying AK chrome metal over it. I’m not convinced by the AK metal colours, they’re often too thin (or more accurately I’m not skilled enough at applying them). We’ll see.18
March 27, 2025First coat of AK chrome19
March 27, 2025Bit patchy on first coat20
March 27, 2025Getting better21
March 27, 2025Not as grainy as this in real life22
March 27, 2025Not convinced the gloss primer was a good idea. The lustre on the tail fins that didn’t have primer is much glossier. I guess it’s a learning process.23
March 27, 2025Pretty good overall, some weird bits, still fun.24
March 28, 2025Managed to get the under carriage on without too many issues.25
March 28, 2025I masked off some engine exhaust weirdness earlier, bit sharp but pretty26
March 28, 2025Then I tried adding some panel lines and weathering and oh dear, totally over did it27
March 28, 2025Grimes and not necessarily in a good way28
March 28, 2025Grubby.29
March 28, 2025At least the exhaust still looks ok30
March 28, 2025And this one’s alright. Going to need to respray some bits.31
March 29, 2025Masking fir the coloured bits.32
March 29, 2025Decent overall look.33
March 29, 2025Went for a weird angle for the coloured triangles under the wings.34
March 29, 2025The coloured areas will change a lot once the decals go on and I do a bit more panel lining.35
March 29, 2025Some nice grimy swirls on the sides. Love the exhausts.36
March 29, 2025Overall it’s much better. Like the yellow band and the weathered blue on the tail fins.37
March 29, 2025Gun ports look alright. Tempted to leave the canopy off so you can see the cockpit better.38
March 29, 2025Pretty good overall.
