Looking good, Kim! Love the dusty look. I completed Tamiya's predecessor of this kit. That was pure fun!

Hi Kim,
what do you mean? Colours? Placement? The 2 handles at the end are made of wood and were usually mot painted = wood colour. For the metal parts I prefer Humbrol 27004 Metalcote Gunmetal. The cradle usually has same colour as the body of the tank.

ok thanks for the info frank, the pics will follow.
Little question Frank, is the dusting not overdone on the tank??
4 January 2013, 13:36

Hi Kim, there are many variations of dirty tanks. I don't think that it is too much. In summer it could happen that the whole tank is covered with dust up to the turret and only the areas, where the crew is walking appear different.
May be you could play a bit with the colours of the dust. You could have some darker areas, where the dust isn't that dry than the other.
Here is an example of a cal.50. Sorry, that I don't have a better one:

And a little example of a different load on the engine deck, which might be off interest for you. The strings went loose a bit.... I've got to tighten them again.

Hi Kim
You did a great job .Like Frank says,in the summer months dust and sometimes mud( after a rainstorm)was around. Both mixed and caked at the chassis, too.
A Tip😛aint the stowage in different green and earth tones(khaki).also try a german fuel can in panzer grey or DAK colors (it was not uncommon on us tanks).Dont worry about the color differences ,they will be blended together by the weathering. The different colors will be eyecatcher.
Again,a great one!
Greetings .....Markus

@Marcus: thanks for the kind words and the tip. I know i have a lot to learn but we are working on it.

Hi ,Kim
Please dont take this as critism.
I still got to learn a lot,too. 🙂

Youve did a great job on this one Kim, your models skills are shourly improved, up to the next level 😉
You need positive critism like Markus did, that's what you bring to that next level,

Great job! I am building this model now. Can you tell me what paints/pigments did you use to create dust effects on tracks and each side of the tank?
16 February 2015, 21:40

Thanks Marcin. It is just tamiya Buff airbrushed on the sides of the Sherman tank and the tracks are a combination of tamiya Buff and european dust pigments by Mig Productions. Hope this helps. Grtz Kim.
