Just so you know, this was all hand painted and my first shot at weathering. On the bottom you can see the oil streaks,on the top you can see faded paint, and off-color touch ups. Let me know what you think,I'm very happy with this completed model. For those of you that don't know,I'm 14 and I think I have great skills. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and please share any helpful hints and techniques for all to see.
Thanks,
Brandon

Brandon....excellent work....your skills are way ahead of where I was at 14. I see some of the decals shine. Did you seal the kit with some sort of dullcote? That would blend them in better.

No,just before I built this,I ran out. And my parents said not to go to the model shop because I have 'enough" supplies. I told them you can never have to many paints and kits

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking both.

The eagle in the front was hard to put on,it's one gigantic decal. Other than that the kit went together with no problems. I got mine at my lhs for 40 dollars

Hunter, here's a review of the exact kit,it's not in English, but the pictures are great airwingmodels.de/t42..Ho-quot-Academy.html

Hey Brandon, nice review. I just have to go build this one. The review show the decal sheet for the kit. the other decal option is for a Marine Squadron VMFA (AW) 242. My boss flew with this Squadron back in the early 1960's flying A-4's. Back then it was just VMA 242. Check out my Gallery, I built this A-4C

Sady I dont have it any more. When My boss retired he gave it back to me but said for me to donate it to our local Vietnam Veteran Museum which I proudly did.

It's a real nice museum. It has lots of models on display and also has restored real 1:1 aircraft from WWII to Today on display and some of the aircraft are in flying condition. The Museum puts on a big Air Show every March.
22 February 2014, 14:49

Where is the museum? My dad and I make a lot of road trips to aviation museums.
22 February 2014, 14:54

John where is this museum at??
I jave a veitnam centurion on the way and would love to pit it on displaythere 😄
Or is it only aircraft??
22 February 2014, 15:01

Brandon and Hunter, the Museum is The Valiant Air Command in Titusville Florida, The Air Show is in mid March and they would display armor.

Yup,my dad is getting deployed to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. He'll be working at the prision. While he's down there I can visit him.
22 February 2014, 19:15

Yeah,he's a Lt. He's currently a nurse,but he used to be a sub tech,and work on the USS Florida ( SSBN-728 )
22 February 2014, 19:19

Very cool. I use to work with a guy who served on a Boomer out of New London.
22 February 2014, 19:27

I brought this to model show today and it got Gold and Best Of Show under the juniors category.
